About Pippa and Olli
This gorgeous, bonded pair of little cutie patooties are ready to create wonderful memories in their forever home.
Whilst eight-year-old Pippa Maltese x Shih Tzu and seven-year-old Ollie Jack Russell x show a strong connection to each other, they seek out human companionship and are definite cuddle bunnies.
Playful and affectionate, it would at first appear that Ollie is the leader of the pair, but that may just be what Pippa would like us to believe as she is the adventurous and determined one who likes to explore. Ollie may like to push a few boundaries and needs reminders and positive reinforcement in response. Pippa hardly notices this as she is too busy snuggling up to you. Both dogs are loyal and affectionate with boundless love to give.

Favourite Things:
They both love cuddles and pats and belly scratches and quality couch time. They enjoy a nice walk to the park. Most of all though, they love their humans, no matter who they are.
Human Interaction and with other animals:
Ollie displays usual Jack Russell protectiveness when there are people at the door. He can get a little anxious if he does not know who the person is. If he does, get ready for a whole-body tail wag as your greeting.
When out walking Ollie is generally apprehensive of two legged and four legged friends. He just needs reassurance from his nearest and dearest during this time.
Pippa true to her adventurous nature accepts all with open arms. What she lacks in size she makes up for in confidence.
Medical
Olli has no health issues as advised by the vet
Pippa has had a full dental with teeth removed
She has 2 back leg luxating patellas that do not require surgery this point and we are seeking a home without numerous steps and that she not be allowed to jump on furniture to ensure surgery risks are mitigated
Pippa had a terrible eye condition on her arrival which has been cleared. she will require drops in her right eye daily for live to keep this in check
Pippa has small ear canals and her ears will require to be cleaned by her new family weekly using ear cleaner
Obedience:
Both Ollie and Pippa easily sit, go to their bed and head outside on command. The only challenge has been when they are barking at a stranger at the door, until they are reassured everything is ok.
Hygiene and toileting:
When Pippa first came to our care she was long overdue for a well needed grooming session and also required dental work and medication for her ears. Her teeth were in such a bad state that she had to have 10 removed.
They both have had two baths whilst in care. Pippa is perfectly fine however Ollie isn’t so keen and tends to try to climb out of the bath. They both love being dried off though. We brush both of them often.
Being the breed that she is, Pippa needs to continue having her coat groomed as her coat grows and her new owners must understand that it is a necessary cost as part of her continued care.
Toileting was a bit of an issue when they came into their foster home. We would find little bundles of presents in the morning. This may have possibly been due to the change in their environment.
After a few weeks in our care both are fully toilet trained! Yay! We are so proud of them. Ollie does tend to want to head out a little earlier than Pip in the mornings though.
Sleeping:
They both sleep inside on a warm comfy dog bed. They tend to sleep together and quite enjoy having a blanket thrown over them!
Independence:
Like most dogs, they prefer their ‘pack’ to be nearby, but will cope with separation if they are appropriately spoiled when their humans return. When they were first left home alone, they would bark at any unfamiliar noises. They seem to have gotten used to their surroundings now, as their barking occurs less often, or if they do bark, they stop reasonably quickly.
Exercise:
Ollie and Pippa both really benefit from an afternoon walk, just one lap around the park seems to keep them happy. Pip tends to set the pace though as she is our explorer. Settling into their foster home, they have started to play with some of their toys too.
Travel:
They have only travelled in the car twice and both were short distances. They would both benefit from further opportunities to travel in the car as it was not the most enjoyable experience for them.
Food:
Ollie LOVES his food, so much so that he has a habit of eating his and Pippa’s!
Our adorable Ollie is a little overweight and for this reason they should be fed separately. They eat high quality dry food.
As Pippa has had 10 teeth removed, it is recommended that she eats small sized dry food.
Inside the home:
If they are not in their bed, then they are usually found on the couch next to us! They know they are not to be up there without us though.
Ideal home:
Pippa and Ollie have proven to be very adaptable but we’re hoping to provide them with a home where;
Someone is home more often than not
No very young children as they may feel overwhelmed if there is too much noise
Treated as members of the family
Inside most of the time but with outdoor access
Secure medium sized yard with some grass and shade/shelter
Daily walks and time for play/training
Patient home, willing to work with them to help settle into a new environment
