About Mickey
Hi my name is Mickey, I’m a 2 year and 2 month old Silky Terrier
I came into care a few months ago and I was such a quiet timid boy to start with.
It took me a while to be comfortable with my new life and I was very unsure when I was meeting new people and I can still be a bit nervous but if you give me some time to get comfortable I will come to you for a pat and a hello.
I am looking for a home that is quiet and calm but still has a few people in the home to hang out and spend time with.
While I would like someone home to hang out with, I am happy if your gone for 4 hours a day - I don't need to live in your pocket but I do like company.
Once I am comfortable with you I would love to be able to give you cuddles – happy on the bed or on the couch together.
I am good with other small breed dogs but would like a quiet life so happy to be an only child or with another small breed dog who is not in my face – I am just a bit too nervous and unsure of the world and I will stand my ground if another dog is too much for me.
I am not tested on cats
I am child friendly
I have also discovered a love of toys - omg so much fun - we can do online Kmart shopping together if you want. I love a good game of fetch and would love someone who would want to play this with me.
I came into care not used to walking on a lead but my foster mum has been working with that - its a bit slow going my walking on a lead but i will get there – I would love a family that would continue taking me for walks and working on my progress.
I would love to be able to have the opportunity to sleep either in a dog bed in a bedroom or on a humans’ bed would be great - I make an incredible hot water bottle.
While I am not an escape artist I am a Silky Terrier so if you have chickens or pocket pets they will need to be in secure areas as I will dig to get to them (but yet not at fences – so weird)
I am toilet trained but if I can’t get outside I will have an accident in the house.
I am happy to have access to inside and out side during the day (I like to sleep inside on my dog bed where I’m happy ) – I love to be able to have access outside during the day to sniff and explore and then inside when I’m ready for a nap.
If you think you could make me part of your family & are interested in applying to adopt me, please send thru an adoption application
** Please note applications will close Thursday 25th May 2023 at 5.30pm

All our dogs leave our care with full vet work (up-to-date vaccinated, microchipped, desexed, heart worm and intestinal wormed and flea treated).
Please note - They will not leave for their new homes until they are 12 weeks of age and have been desexed, micro-chipped and vaccinated up to date.
Please note - we are not a pound or have kennels - all our dogs stay in foster carers homes and therefore dogs are not able to be simply viewed - only approved applicants will meet the dogs.
Please Note: We do not hold any animals so please only apply if you are ready to adopt now
Please note - We don't take calls on adoption enquiries - an application must be completed

Complete the following adoption enquiry link

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $100) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 10 day trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby via email including the transfer of microchip form.
