ABOUT
Lara came into care after being used as an outdoor only breeding dog her whole life. She was understandably very nervous on arrival but has come a very long way in a few short months. Lara has transformed into a much loved indoor pet, has mastered how to walk on a lead, and has even shed a few kgs! She is still an anxious girl, but is incredibly sweet and loving, providing her foster family with so much joy and happiness every day. Lara has some ongoing health and dietary needs, so please read her profile carefully before applying to meet her.
Lara can take or leave other animals, she does not seek their attention but at the same time isn't annoyed by their presence. When she came into care, Lara was scared of everything home related (doors, tiles, fans) as she had never been inside one before! She still hasn't quite mastered walking up stairs so this will need to be considered when applying to meet her. Due to her ongoing anxiety, Lara has been medicated to support her well being and her ideal forever home will need to be able to continue with regular vet checks and administering her medication.
Lara struggles to consume large mouthfuls of food at once so she requires a slow feeder, and her total amount of daily food needs to be broken up into smaller meals throughout the day. As much as she shines being outside, she has definitely chosen the inside lifestyle. A home that has no stairs, and is open for her to freely explore the outside environment while being able to live inside most of the time will be required. Due to her medication and feeding schedule, Lara will need a family where someone can be home with her the majority of the time.
