About Raven
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Raven
BEFORE SAFE ESPERANCE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender.
BREED: Border Collie x Labradoodle
Breed traits: Border Collie - - originally bred to herd sheep they are a sensitive breed that needs company. Affectionate with family and people friendly. Highly intelligent and easy to train they need plenty of exercise and mental stimulation - they are not cuddly couch potatoes and need a job. They will herd anything that moves such as children, cars, bikes etc. They need an active owner, not a novice owner.
Labradoodle - Cross of Labrador Retriever and Poodle - Originally bred to be hypoallergenic service dogs their temperament is generally smart, sociable and affectionate. They are easy to train as eager to please. Good if raised with other dogs and pets but can be exuberant so children could be knocked over. They are a mix of water/gun dogs that are high in energy and need mental stimulation - a bored dog can be a destructive dog. If you put the time and effort in, they are great family/companion dogs.

ASSETS: Easygoing, affectionate, smart, devoted, friendly, confident, sweet and playful just about sums up Raven! She loves to be around people and adores attention although she can be a little bit excitable and jump up when first meeting people.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Raven loves to have company around her, whether that's another dog or her special person. She loves to run and play, and her favourite game at the moment is tug. She adores water and loves to be submerged as often as she can!
ENDEARING FEATURES: She's great with everyone she meets and is a confident girl. She's very smart and picks up new things easily.
OTHER ANIMALS: She loves to be around other dogs so ideally her new home will have another youngish dog for company after gentle introduction, or at the very least she'll have regular interaction with other dogs. She could probably live with a dog-savvy, confident cat, again after gentle introduction - she is still a puppy and has a tendency to chase so the cat needs to stand its ground.
GENERAL INFO: Raven will need training for pretty much everything, although she has learned lots of new things in her current foster home. She's a smart cookie and picks up new things fairly easily but may get up to mischief if left alone for any length of time, so will need some toys or company to keep her busy mind occupied. She isn't fully housetrained yet so will definitely need help in this area too. Expect a few accidents while she's settling into her new home and routine - having someone home more often than not will help greatly! She rarely barks and is learning some commands in her foster home. She does jump up in excitement and sometimes will gently nip when she wants attention. She will benefit greatly from schooled training to counter these habits. Raven will be medium to high energy as an adult dog so will need an active home.
ESSENTIALS for Raven:
** a loving, active home where someone is there with her for part of the day or can take her with them when they leave the house.
** a home where she is treated as part of the family and is allowed to be inside or out as she needs and to sleep inside at night, preferably as close to her people as possible!
** a good-sized garden with secure fencing where she can run, play, sniff and explore.
**a playful resident dog or regular meets with other friendly dogs.
** attendance at training classes to give her the structure and foundation that she missed in early life.
Raven could live with dog-savvy gentle older children (10+) who will play and interact with her but know when to give her space.
If Raven sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please send an enquiry and we'll be in touch soon.
