About Izzy
-A mischievous, adventurous character, yet also shy.
- Best suited to living in a multi-dog household.
- Can live with cats so long as they show total indifference to him. If they run from him at all, he will fixate on them and chase them.
- Unsuited to households with children or birds or pocket pets.
- Needs an active lifestyle. Not suited to a television lifestyle.
Izzy arrived into rescue very shy and somewhat shut down, but is coming out of his shell and showing himself to be quite a spunky little character, with a love for mischief and high jinks.
Izzy loves adventurous activities such as hiking and camping. He can walk for at least an hour + at a brisk pace. He loves chasing birds at the park, although he has no hope of catching one, as he is an older boy with a lovely rotund body that makes him built for comfort and not for speed.
Izzy is currently in foster care with six other dogs and a cat. He gets along well with all of them, and but can also stand his ground if one of the other dogs pushes the boundaries too far. He has shown his foster carers that he is a keen cat chaser, but this is not a problem for them, as their cat refuses to run.
Izzy would ideally be suited as an adult’s companion, in a home with other dogs that he can rumble with as partners in crime, (chasing birds and rabbits, with no hope of catching one). He could also be an only dog so long as his new owner can provide him with an adventurous lifestyle with lots of fun activities. He’s making up for lost time and isn’t ready for retirement by a long shot.
Izzy can also live with cats that stretch out and refuse to be chased. Not suited to a home with reptiles/pocket pets as he will chase them, and not suited to a home with children as sudden movements can frighten him. He is still in the process of emerging from his shell, and still often runs and hides under a table when he is called.
Izzy needs a home with an owner who will be around a fair bit of the time and committed to giving him an exciting life. He just adores human company and being a part of daily activities. Wherever you’re going, he wants to come too!

Adoption details
Animals are desexed, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and on heartworm prevention / and also FIV tested for cats where possible. They are not available for adoption outside NSW (except ACT). Please email par.adoptions@gmail.com if you would like further information.
Dogs and cats are rehomed on two weeks trial to ensure that both the person adopting them and the rescuer are satisfied that the dog / cat / animal is happy and adapting well to their new home and this can be extended on request
Please be aware that Paws and Recover is run by volunteers who also work. We endeavour to answer enquires as quickly as possible. Some animals will inevitably be very popular and will generate many enquires. Where there is a high volume of enquires received, it will be our priority to contact those that best fit the requirements of the animal. This may mean that it is not possible for all enquires to be answered. Please keep an eye on the website for all updates.
Providing quality information as a part of your enquiry including information about your home environment, family, work hours, other pets and what you are looking for in a companion animal along with what you can offer one will greatly assist.
Please always provide a contact phone number as a part of your enquiry.
