About God Rush
Meet the irresistibly handsome boy Gold Rush, also known as Chase.
This handsome boy is true to breed and his big happy smiles just melt your heart
A pure English Setter with long legs, sleek body, silky soft fur, dreamy eyes and loving personality, how can you scroll past this divine boy. At 9 months old he is still a pup and learning the rules. With consistent training, guidance and boundaries, this pup is going to make the best family member ever!
Favorite things
Chase loves everything and everyone.
A highly energetic boy, true to his breed, he loves running, food, smelling everything in sight, watching and chasing birds, meeting other dogs, greeting new people and wants all the love and attention. He simply loves a cuddle with his foster family and we may even find him snuggling up and sleeping next to his foster fur-sister.
He enjoys a good wrestle with his foster sis too when they’re not playing chase around the yard.
With his fascination with birds, he must be on a lead when walked in unfenced surroundings.

Interaction with humans
Chase is fostered in a home that includes young adults and is so happy to see any one of us, especially if it means he is going to have a pat, cuddle, be fed or walk.
On our walks, he is super friendly to anyone he meets and can get a little excited on the initial greeting. He is being trained not to jump and instead to sit patiently to wait for a pat or cuddle. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his gorgeous body but we feel he may be a bit too boisterous in a home with young children.
Obedience/Training
When we collected Chase from the pound it seemed as though he just had no training and didn’t understand that jumping up on people when greeting them was a big no-no. He would grab food off the bench and climb on everything. When outside on the deck, he would persistently jump up against the glass sliding door.
Now Chase understands that he is to have all four paws on the ground or even sit before he gets any attention. He is understanding the words sit, leave, bed, no, stay and wait. Chase is yet to master drop and heel.
He rarely jumps up against the sliding door and waits patiently for us to come outside to play or to bring his food to him.
We have been working on his recall, making baby steps with progress every day. Whilst he is great on a long lead, off lead he does not always come back to you, especially if there’s something more interesting in another spot. He is an English Setter so his nose will take him everywhere and his bark lets me know he’s found something of interest that he wants us to follow.
Chase loves his walks, whether it be around the local paths or in the park. He pulls on the lead so we have been using a harness or halti. He tolerates the halti well and walks really good when we use it.
We are so proud of just how far Chase has come in the couple of weeks that we’ve cared for him but this boy needs a bucket load of training. His forever family needs to understand this. He is a quick learner and very food oriented so it can be done, just needs a lot of commitment, time and consistency.
Please do not apply to adopt Chase if you and your family are not truly willing to make the time to commit to training and help this gorgeous boy navigate the world we live in.
Animal social skills
Chase is in a home with a playful one year old female heeler x. He loves to wrestle with her, chase her around the yard (& house!) and also sleep beside her. We think he would absolutely thrive with another playful, female doggy friend in his new home.
He wants to befriend everything. On meeting new dogs, if he senses another dog doesn’t want to know him, he will keep trying to make friends with the dog and will even be submissive, rolling onto his side then getting up and wanting to play.
He is fascinated with birds. When he sees them, on the ground or in the trees, he will sit and watch. When they fly off, he will chase. So we always keep this fella on a lead when not in a fenced area.
At 4am, you may hear him barking at the fence as he can see (or smell) the local possum who keeps teasing the dogs as they chase it along the fence line of our property.
Chase could not be home with cats, birds or pocket pets as he would just absolutely terrorize them.
Food
Oh food! Glorious food! Yep - whatever you have, he’ll take it. Even if it’s a loaf of bread, sitting on the bench. So a warning: do not leave food in reach of this tall boy. Food is to be kept in lockable containers or in cupboards that he cannot open.
He is fed dry kibble twice a day. With his night meal we also give him rolled Prime. Chase also loves the odd treat, such as dental sticks, bones, pigs ears or chicken necks.
We feed the dogs separately but he seems to be okay with sharing any of his treats with other dogs.
Independence
Chase wants company and does not like being left on his own. If he is outside and his fur sister is inside, he frets and will whimper or bark to let us know that he wants to be inside too or have her outside with him.
He tolerates being left outside with his fur sister whilst we go to work or school for the day however we have found a destroyed bed on two occasions. We can’t necessarily blame Chase though as we think his fur sister may have had a big part to play. But do be warned that you wouldn’t want to leave any special things in his reach as he does like to chew things. He also digs too when he finds a spot that has an interesting, special smell.
Bathing and Hygiene
On his first night with us we gave him a bath and he tolerated it extremely well. He also tolerated the hair dryer. He just loves to have a brush too and his long luscious locks look divine after a good brush. His fur is so silky soft and everybody who meets this boy comments on his lovely fur.
Sleeping
Chase loves his sleep. He currently sleeps outside on the covered deck and he’d love to sleep beside your bed or even on it if you let him!
We had him sleeping inside when he first came to care, however we found he was quite restless and didn’t seem to like the heating on inside and does seem more comfortable outside.
He will sleep from 10pm and will usually wake around 6am, or earlier if he is woken up by the local possum. When this happens, we just tell him to get to his bed and he listens, however he may want a little pat or cuddle to settle.
Exercise
Chase needs all the exercise that he can get. He is taken on two walks per day, one for around 40 minutes and another around 20 minutes. During the day he can be found chasing his foster sister around the yard many times a day, chasing birds or lazing in the garden or on the deck.
If he isn’t exercised enough you may discover that he will find his own entertainment which may include destroying his bed, digging or chewing up his toys.
Inside the home
It takes some time for Chase to settle inside the home. When first let in, he will walk around sniffing every corner and crevice. He is really interested in what’s in the bins and on the benches, so it’s best to keep this out of his reach. It’s kind of like having an inquisitive toddler in the house!
Once he has settled and smelt everything, he will comfortably sleep on his bed or a cool spot on the carpet/floor. We have a doggy door that he has mastered to use but when he first came to care he did have a couple of accidents inside.

Active family who will walk and play with him daily
A decent size yard that is fully fenced and secure with shade and shelter
