About Matilda
ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS
- Indoors Only
- Another Cat Needed, Maybe a Dog
- Shy Cat, Adults Only
Meet Matilda,
A gorgeous young girl who was brought to the shelter in a humane cat trap in late February, Matilda has been in our care in our Leave to Settle program learning that humans are not scary, and that the domestic life is one to love. Matilda has come an incredibly long way from when she started; an unsocialised street cat who was terrified of humans, to a cat who now loves the attention and love that people can offer her.
Matilda is looking for her very first (and only) forever home; she will need a family that is willing to give her all of the time in the world to settle in, as she will likely regress when she first goes to her new home. She is not suited to a loud or busy home environment, and she cannot live with children. She loves other cats though, and it would greatly assist her transition to be rehomed with an existing cat-loving cat in the house. She loves head scratches, her favourite spot being between her ears; once she is comfortable, Matilda will show you her belly (absolutely NO touchies!) and show off her loud purr (and maybe even treat you with her cute meow!).
Matilda is still very nervous of meeting new people and is learning that an occasional nibble, no matter how well-intentioned, is not very nice. She is learning to play with toys still (a skill she has perfected in secret), and has a preference for sandy textured litter (Max's for example), none of this pellet or crystal nonsense please! She will need to go to a home with experienced cat owners who have an existing cat, and may require a couple of visits to get to know you before you take her home.
