About Maverick
Maverick is a delightful, sweet, gentle natured little dude who arrived in our care with his 10 siblings! Mav was the smallest of the litter and one of the more sensitive but everyday his confidence is growing and he is gaining more independence, exploring the house and garden or taking himself off for a snooze (word of warning he snores like a freight train). His mum was a Staffy x Boxer and his Dad a Staffy x Belgian Malinois making him an interesting and rather large breed mix.
Maverick is a clever boy who has picked up a few clever tricks in care like high 5! He also is doing well with his leash training and toilet training. He often accompanies his foster dad to the CrossFit Gym where he is unsurprisingly a big hit.
Ideally Mav's new family will have a bit of experience with med / large sized dogs, bonus points if they have bully breed experience. As he can be quite sensitive it's so important to manage his interactions with other dogs so he can build up his confidence and practice positive socialisation around known safe dogs and not just randoms at the dog park. When he gets worried he lets out a little cry and asks to be picked up which is likely not practical when he is expected to be over 30kgs.
MY IDEAL HOME: will be with a family committed to ongoing training and socialisation, like all puppies I have lots of things to learn and signing up to puppy school and/or group classes where I can engage in positive training and build my confidence is a must.
MY ENERGY LEVEL: Despite having a bit of Malinois spice thrown into my breed mix, I am a happy medium level of energy, I enjoy a good daily outing or two and like to accompany my foster family of adventures.
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I currently live with two dog savvy children aged 9 and 13 and get along with them very well. I would likely be a little worried about kids under 8 as I can be a little sensitive.
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I enjoy the company of other dogs and live with a small oodle mix. I would happily share with another dog in my new home but do need a little guidance around sharing. I have yet to meet cats but would likely be okay with a managed introduction.

Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two-week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
