Favorite Things
Her favorite thing is you. She loves humans and will give you non stop cuddles if you let her
Handshakes and high fives
Food especially chicken
Walks with lots of stopping to sniff time
Sleeping and watching telly with you
Dirty washing
Human Interactions
Aggi is a social butterfly, drawn to all humans big and small. If we are out for a walk she needs to say Hi to everyone she meets and you really can't resist her beautiful face and her waggy tail. She has beautiful fine doggy features, black glossy coat which makes her a stunning girl
Aggi likes to have lots and lots of cuddles so she needs to be included in the family when home
Aggi does like to put her paws up on you when you arrive home so we have been working on sit for pats which she is slowly starting to master
Aggi enjoys being around you so you will have a little shadow to follow you around as you go about your day. She likes to be next to you, sitting right near you. She does like to be the centre of your attention, your number one gal
One funny little trait Aggi has is she loves to roll around and rub herself in dirty washing so she has a good nose for what clean and what's not
Aggi can get excited around loud noises such as hair dryer/ loud appliances and vacuum and possibly noisy children so we feel she is suited to a home with mature dog savvy children.
Interactions with other dogs
Aggi arrived in foster with three other resident dogs, she was quite timid and unsure of them at first so we allowed her a day to decompress and be on her own. She now enjoys hanging out with them, not overly playful. On her walks we have noticed if she sees a border collie she will run over to say Hi and try to engage, so we feel she would love a MALE friend of similar breed that is not overly playful, someone just to chill and hang out with. She is very dog social at the park, with polite dogs who respect space and not in her face, she will nip if she feels uncomfortable.
She has now started playing with the resident dogs and having great games of chase and tug of war
Aggis only negative point is that she can be food aggressive around other dogs so it's important to feed her separately, supervise treats and not allow her in the kitchen with other dogs/cats if preparing food. She will growl to give a warning. She has not had a problem with her carer touching her while eating
Aggi has been introduced to a dog savvy cat and she was unsure what it was and not wanting to engage so we feel that she would be ok in a home with a cat that will stand it’s ground.
Obedience
Aggi is great off lead unless she spots a human or dog she wants to say hello to. She enjoys a sniff but will return if called if no distractions. She has been tested at a small off lead dog area and ovals. In larger off lead areas she is walked on lead. She hasn't shown any issues with children on bikes, cars or trains.
Aggi appears to not have had a lot of training, she will sit if treats are involved, she is practicing sitting and waiting for food and pats. She has come along really well in the short time she has been in our care
She will put her paws up on you but shes a slight girl so not a dog that will knock you over. She is gentle and not overly jumpy.
She will sniff the kitchen bench for treats and will take the opportunity to steal but then she gives you those big puppy dog eyes it hard to get angry with her
She walks well on lead with no pulling but can zig zag wanting to sniff everything.
Generally she is well behaved inside and has shown no destructive traits.
Independence
Aggi does like some company and would not suit a home where people are away all day everyday. She would tolerate a few days or hours, she can bark, but not excessively, when lonely she has displayed some howling outside but this was early on in her transition from the pound. Her behavior has improved over the weeks as she has settled in. Company from another dog would be great. She would benefit from a home with a doggy door where she could come and go as she pleases. Inside she likes to sleep the day away
Aggi being a working dog breed will need daily walks and stimulation to keep her mind active
Inside the home
Aggi is well behaved inside other than putting her feet up on the bench to see what's cooking. She does prefer the couch over her bed and will try and sit next to you. She is house trained and shown no destructive traits but is a little food obsessed so advisable not to leave food out.
Exercise
Aggi is walked daily, 30 min plus. She is fine to be walked on lead or off lead once she has bonded to you. She does enjoy a good sniff and run around. She is not one to play with toys or balls. She will give a short chase with other dogs
Being 5 years old, she is not as high energy as her younger mates. She's happy to potter along on walks
Car travel
Aggi travels well in the car, no barking, happy to jump in an out and knows ‘in the car’ means home time from the park
Food
Aggi arrived quite fussy about her food, only eating wet food, she has now been transitioned onto royal canin dry food twice a day. Aggi is the perfect weight for her size. She takes treats gently. She can display some food aggression around other dogs so is fed separately or under close supervision around food.
Hygiene / Grooming
Aggi arrived extremely filthy and full of fleas which were treated immediately, She enjoyed her bath, finally being clean. She will sit quietly while being brushed, she will need regular brushing to keep her coat in good condition
Aggi is fully toilet trained ( a couple of accidents for a couple of days during her settling in period, not uncommon for a dog in a new home)
Sleep
Aggi would really like to sleep with you tucked into your arms every night if she had the opportunity
She is currently sleeping on her bed right outside her foster mum's room. She is kept indoors and has been known to bark at the possums if she goes outside. She is toilet trained and will hold on all night. She does have access to a dog door and uses this well
Ideal Home
A loving family home where Aggi will be included as part of the family inside
A family with teenagers and older as she can get overly excited in noisy environments
She is fine meeting small children that are calm and respectful
A home that will keep Aggi stimulated with daily walks and adventures
A docile MALE companion
A home without another dog is fine too
A med to a large backyard with secure fencing. No Apartment or small yard applications will be considers
Dog savvy cats are welcome to apply
