About Kelly
With the enormous popularity of Dachshunds, it is worth mentioning a couple of facts about this breed. Originally bred in Germany as a hunting hound, they were used to flush out animals from rabbits to wild boar. They make excellent Watch Dogs & will alert you to anything that they think you need to know about. Because of their physical structure with long, low-suspended backs, they can be prone to back-related issues.
Kelly is a fun, feisty, energetic & curious young lady. She is looking for a guardian who will understand that she needs a lot of activities in her day to keep her both physically & mentally enriched. Regular daily exercise, the opportunity to sniff & explore different surroundings, ongoing positive reinforcement training, games, toys & lots of human interaction are all vital to her well-being. If these needs are not met, she may become bored, frustrated, vocal & demanding. She is not a girl who wishes to be a 24/7 lap dog! She really enjoys rides in the car & trips to the beach.
Kelly loves her toys & engages in some really fun games, Dachshunds are known for having a great sense of humour :)
She may be able to co-habit with a suitable canine companion, a meet & greet prior to adoption would be required. We are open to the right family although she still gets a bit mouthy when excited & so any children in the home need to understand how to act appropriately around dogs. Kelly needs to have her new family at home more often than not.
Secure fencing & a high quality diet are essential.
