About Sarge
Meet Sarge!
A truly sweet-natured boy who can be a little shy & wary initially, but with lots of tasty treats & gentle reassurance, he soon starts to build trust. He hasn't seen much of the outside world & can, at times, feel overwhelmed. It is important that when a dog is experiencing emotions like this that we let them go at their own pace. We need to try & make new environments, people & situations as positive as possible so that our dogs can create a good association with them. Flooding them with new experiences is not advised.
Once you make friends with Sarge, he is fun, playful, energetic, affectionate & a bit of a goofball! He has a hilarious way of bunny-hopping to a thrown ball! He needs regular daily exercise as well as mental enrichment. He would love to become a proper member of the household & be able to live indoors with his family, especially with the cold winter nights closing in. He is neither noisy nor destructive in his pen at the shelter.
Sarge gets a lot of confidence from his doggie friends at the shelter & would love to live with another sociable dog. He has quite a vigorous play-style & would need a well-matched companion. A Meet & Greet prior to adoption would be needed to make sure that they can be besties.
Secure fencing, a high quality diet & lots of love is what Sarge needs to keep him happy, healthy & safe.
Sarge is looking for an understanding, patient & kind new guardian who will give him the time & space that he needs in order to gain confidence & thrive. He has enormous potential to be one of the bestest friends you ever had.
