About Leroy
This boy is the amazing Leroy❣️
He is great with children and has lived with cats 🐈 & chooks 🐓
Housetrained ✔️
It is amazing the amount of tricks he can do ❗️
He is so affectionate & sweet, and needs to be a inside dog.
Leroy is only 15kg
He is beautiful on lead on his daily walks – he would probably enjoy 2 walks a day 🐾❣️
His previous owner owned a grooming salon and he would go to work with them most days where he was socialised with dogs of all breeds and sizes.🐕🦺
Unfortunately in 2020 he contracted tetanus and survived which is believed to have led to to some behaviour change in the form of being fearful of storms, fireworks, loud machines and loud planes overhead. This brought about his behaviour of escaping. When in his fearful state he becomes highly motivated to escape , so needs solid fencing or be inside to feel safe.
Leroy would benefit from being around people as he is very loving and sweet and eager to please. He is social with other dogs, cats, toddlers, kids and adults. He would get on well with another dog but would also do great if he was the only dog as he would relish all the attention and not feel like he has to compete.💙
Leroy is very responsive to training and has basic skills of sit, drop, shake, waits for the word ‘tucker’ to eat, ‘back’ so as not to rush the door, walks well on lead (pulls a little at first) due to excitement and knows the word ‘touch’ to touch an object with his nose. He would benefit from more training and is smart and quick to pick up new tricks. He would also benefit from some extra activities like agility.
Adoption details
We list animals for adoption on Pet Rescue as well as on our own Animals-in-Need Website. We talk with people who contact about an animal to see what their needs and situation are. My emphasis is on getting the right animal for the people and the right people for the animal. If everyone's needs are met things usually work out well.
Please note all our cats are indoor cats only.
If the situation sounds good we arrange a meeting. If all goes well we let people try the animal out for a couple of weeks to ensure that everyone is happy.
We keep records of all adopters, follow up to ensure all is well and undertake to take back any animal if circumstances change.
