About ☕Coco☕
Coco the Pug cross Maltese, is a very special member of the Squishies family who we’re excited to introduce to you all!
Unfortunately, Coco’s owner passed away while she was still quite young and their immediate family did not have a home suited to her needs which is where her foster mum stepped in to help! In the time since, her foster family have been hard at work helping Coco to learn her manners and all the good things young dogs need to learn. She is now ready to start her search for a forever home so if you’re looking for a lovely little lady to join your family read on…
Coco is a curious and happy two-year-old girl who prefers to spend most of her day inside. She will happily spend hours laying with you on the couch or in bed; the perfect hot water bottle going into the colder months! (she’ll even get under the covers if you let her). She is crate trained and is happy to spend the night in her crate while having the run of the house during the day. A home with a dog door would be ideal so that she can come and go as she pleases.
Her legs may be short but that doesn’t stop her from loving a walk each day and this is also vital to both her physical and mental health. Coco is a young and at times high energy dog but is also prone to unhealthy weight gain if over fed/under exercised. One 30-minute walk or 2x 15 minute walks per day seem to suit her best.
Prior to coming into care Coco was the unintended victim of an exuberant large breed dog, who accidentally broke her leg and while the physical injury has been treated and healed and causes her no ongoing issues she is and will likely always be reactive to big dogs. Obviously, this is understandable and while her attention can be redirected while encountering a large dog on walks, Coco shouldn’t be expected to interact with large dogs or be put in situations that would further traumatise her like an off-lead dog park.
Coco absolutely loves the cats and the other small dog in her foster home, better yet, she is extremely gentle and loving towards them. She would happily be a companion to another small dog or a friendly feline looking for some pupper kisses in her new home. She is a sweet, happy-go-lucky girl who loves her young human foster sister, and she would be fine in a home with children who are old enough to understand how to be respectful and calm.
While Coco won’t bark for no reason she will bark if there are unusual people hanging around or visitors arriving but once she’s been able to say hello, she will settle quickly and will cheerfully give them a lick to say hello. She loves her soft toys, lounging in the sun and keeping an eye on what the rest of the family are doing and will make a wonderful companion to her lucky forever family.
Coco is in care in Pakenham.
Please not that only enquiries accompanied by a completed adoption questionnaire will receive a reply.
Medical notes
Coco Goes to her new home desexed, microchipped, current in parasite treatments and vaccinations. She has been to the groomer/vet regularly to have her nails done, the occasional anal gland expression and baths and would like a home that will keep up her 4-6 weekly spa days, to keep her fresh and looking her best.
