About Rocket
Hi, my name is Rocket and I’m seven months old. I’m a Border Collie x Kelpie so I’m an energetic young fella, but not excessively so. I’ve just been desexed and I’m very healthy.
I’m looking for a forever family that is active and really wants to include me in family life and outings. I’d love to go walking or hiking and I reckon I could learn jogging or biking in time. I want to be a part of the family activities in your home too so please don’t shut me outside.
I’m a very social young fella. I love all people and dogs but can be too excitable, so a family with older kids would probably be awesome because I sometimes forget I’m not supposed to jump up. I’d love another dog to play with, but I can be too insistent with some dogs at times when they may not want to play so I need you to help me regulate my play and let me know I need to back off. I have no bad intentions, but I sometimes get a bit frisky with my playmates and try to hump. I’m learning not to do that.
I also really like cats and could live with a confident cat.
I love toys, all toys and will really want to play with you with the toys, but I have been known to steal the toy another dog is playing with so please let me know that that isn’t ok. I’ve also been known to chew up the squeaky ones so be prepared to only let me have those ones under supervision.
I’m a well-mannered boy. I don’t chew up the furniture, run riot inside or pee inside the house. I have been known to take one or two items off the counter, but I don’t destroy them. I’ve been known to dig a hole or two when I’m bored so hopefully you are not too precious about the garden whilst I’m learning not to. I know not to barge inside until invited and I know what areas of the house are off-limits. I’m crate trained for nights and hold my bladder with no problems. I can get a bit too excited sometimes and jump up.
I have been learning some obedience, so I know to sit, drop, and walk nicely on the lead. I’m pretty good on walks but sometimes I startle at unknown things, so I need help knowing not to react, but I’m not aggressive or frightened, just startled and forget to pay attention.
I’m looking for a family also who will continue my training. Foster Mum says I need a firm hand, or I’ll walk all over you. I’ve tried lots of tantrums to get my own way but that’s not working here, so please continue the training that I’ve started, and I’ll love and respect you forever.
Are you my forever family?
