About Plato
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Plato
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance as a surrender.
BREED: Bull Mastiff x
BREED TRAITS: originally bred as a guard dog, this breed is affectionate with family but can be standoffish with strangers. Sensitive and loving to his clan he is a powerful and courageous guardian. They are independent thinkers so training and socialisation to people, places and other dogs should start young. Best as an inside dog as he needs to be protected from overheating. They have medium energy requirements but can excel in various dog sports. He is a drooler and definitely not for novice owners.
***************************************************************
ASSETS: Plato is easy-going, affectionate, friendly, obedient, loving, active and playful! Plato has a beautiful nature and has settled well into foster care.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Plato loves to get out and about in the car to the beach and for walks. He gets on well with the other dogs in his foster home and spends hours chasing and playing with them. He doesn't have a favourite toy or game as yet as he loves any opportunity to play!
ENDEARING FEATURES: He has a loyal and loving nature and just loves to be loved.
OTHER ANIMALS: He gets on well with other dogs and could live with another dog for company in his new home dependent on meet. He is a little too interested in cats and small animals and will chase, so we won't rehome him with any just for their safety.
GENERAL INFO: Plato walks well on the lead, is housetrained and rarely barks. He knows a few commands already and is a clever cookie so training should be a breeze with him. He can be a little bit headstrong so a dog savvy owner who sets firm boundaries is essential while he is still young and learning. He travels well in the car and enjoys getting out and seeing new things. His new home will need to continue with his training - his start in life didn't provide him with any foundation work or much socialisation so for Plato to come this far in such a short time speaks volumes about his lovely temperament. Plato has been fostered by a full time worker with another dog for company so this could be a good work for him in his new home.
ESSENTIALS for Plato:
