About Iris STA010372
Iris came to us a very scared young girl who was not coping in the Shelter environment, she was placed into a quiet, calm and caring foster home for her to feel safe and comfortable.
From her Foster Home-
Iris is a moderately active girl who enjoys playtime in the evening and napping around the house during the day. It took Iris 4-6 weeks to really settle into her foster home, she can still be a little skittish with quick movements but enjoys pats and shows affection by hanging around and meowing for her human (and treats!). Iris is a shy but gentle girl who enjoys hunting and playing but never uses her claws on her human, that being said she LOVES her cardboard scratch pad and stretching out on her scratching post.
She loves seafood flavoured Temptation treats, playing with balls and her wand toy, and a good pat once she gets to know you. She loves to be near you, just not on you (yet.)
Iris will best suit a home that is quiet and routine with a person who is keen to spend some time playing with her and building trust. Iris hasn’t lived with other cats, but may enjoy a friendly cat companion.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
