Buster

Hi I’m Buster, I was found alongside my owner who had sadly passed away and was taken to the local pound in my area. BVAR put their hands up to help me and next thing I knew I was put on transport and on my way to a new life.

I absolutely adore every dog I meet and just want to play. I will have a game with everyone, but I also have good doggy manners and backs off if the other dog shows any aggression or has had enough. I would definitely suit a home with another dog of a similar age.

I am not tested at all with cats, so its not sure how I would do. I am not tested nor have I met any children, there are no signs to indicate I wouldn’t be ok aside from a bit of excited jumping at times which I’m still learning to control.

I spend most of my day inside with my furry foster brother - if I had it my way I would be wherever the humans are! I do like to go outside from time to time but prefers to be inside with the humans. I have jumped shorter fences so its recommend that my new home have 5-6 foot fences.

I tend to be a bit wary - particularly of men. I’m much more comfortable with women and its believed I wouldn’t suit a household with only males.

I would make the perfect companion dog where I can attach myself to one or two main humans. I would suit a retiree or couple as my whole little world revolves around being with my person. I do really well when I have a routine and know what to expect from my human caregivers.

I sleep inside on a dog bed or rug or the couch. I like to make myself a little ‘nest’ of cushions / blankets to sleep in. I got some toys when I first came into care, but I don’t really know what to do with them.

I love going in the car (especially to the dog park) and while I would prefer to sit in the front passenger seat, I go into the back when told to (one day I’ll convince my humans to let me ride shotgun).

I have shown to have heaps of energy and excitement when I’m at the dog park, when I am at home I am chilled out and happy to rest and have cuddles. I tend to match the energy of those around me.

I have been working really hard on my basic training and I’m starting to ‘sit’ maybe 50% the time without any extra persistence. I know ‘no’ and ‘off’ and my name, I will keep working on improving my training. My recall is hit and miss, as I am a bit older it’s taking a little longer to train me the basics.

I’m doing well with my lead training, my foster family tried me with a halti collar initially and I hated it so much and spent all my energy trying to get it off. I now go without it using just my collar and lead, I’m going ok. I can at times pull a little bit, but not too bad.

When I roll in the grass I do this funny thing where I am on my back and I roll so quickly from one side to the other it’s almost like a flip. I also do an adorable thing where I cock my head from side to side when my humans make a funny noise.

I have been perfect with my toileting whilst inside. The first day or two I was having some accidents but my foster family think that it was just nerves and the smell of the resident dog. Now I can easily go through the night without any accidents and will go toilet through the day when I’m let outside.
