Chiquita (59427)

Chiquita is a mature shepherd that has clearly lacked experience in the outside world. Having come to us as a stray, we have no prior information of what life was like before us. Chiquita was very nervous and reserved when she arrived, but has come out of her shell and formed bonds with staff and volunteers. She has no experience with other dogs and can become overwhelmed really easily, using her big bark to let them know she is unsure. Due to this she will need to be the only pet in her home, and is highly recommended to work with a trainer to further improve her confidence and help her feel comfortable around other dogs. Chiquita may need integration into indoor/outdoor living and has no known history with kids. She walks relatively well on lead and has ongoing grooming requirements to keep her coat looking its best. Chiquita is looking for a stable home with knowledgeable and confident owners who can lead the way to building her confidence and not feeding into any anxieties that may occur.
