About Tallulah
To anyone who meets her, Tallulah is a typical happy, healthy, friendly puppy but sadly, she has already been through a lot of pain and heartache in her short life.
Abandoned and broken, Tallulah came to the attention of a worker in the remote community she was living in and it was obvious that she was in desperate need of help.
Surviving on the streets, she was skinny, and she was limping, but nobody realised the true horror of what she had been through.
We organised for Tallulah to be taken straight to our vets. She was examined and given pain relief and then taken for x-rays.
Even our experienced vet staff were shocked to see what poor Tallulah had been dealing with.
The head of her femur had snapped off inside her hip joint and her broken femur had been pushed right up above her spine! No wonder she was limping!!
Tallulah was taken to surgery to have the broken femoral head removed and free up her femur so that it could go into a more normal position and give her back a functional leg.
The surgery was long and complicated. Our vet discovered that this was not a recent injury. There was a lot of scar tissue that proved that our girl had been suffering for a long time.
Despite her absolute agony, Tallulah had been so sweet to everyone and hidden her pain so well. It was absolutely heartbreaking.
Whether she was hit by a car, kicked or bashed with something, we will never know but what we do know is that she suffered unimaginable pain for a very long time.
Tallulah spent time in hospital recovering until she was finally allowed home to complete her recovery.
Although her femoral head is missing, her body has created a functional scar tissue joint that is pain free and allows her to walk and run and play like a normal dog. In fact, if you didn’t know what she had endured, you would probably never guess that she had even had surgery. There are no long term issues and she does not require any special care.
Tallulah loves other dogs. She has been around dogs of all shapes and sizes, even tiny ones and ones with special needs. She is very playful and loves to join in any games that are being played.
Tallulah has been fine with the cats she has met and with the right introductions, would be ok sharing her new home with a kitty friend.
Tallulah LOVES toys of any kind. She will play with her toys for ages and keep herself amused.
Tallulah is good with kids but she can be a little excited so probably older kids would be best for her.
Being a working breed, Tallulah has enough energy to join her new family on whatever activities they enjoy. She is clever and will easily learn new things.
Tallulah loves to be wherever her humans are and she loves to be included in daily life.
Is Tallulah the special girl you have been waiting for?
