About Mouse STA010393
Mouse is a gorgeous young guy who from birth was raised in a colony setting where human interaction and trust doesn’t exist. Mouse was placed into a quiet, calm and experienced foster home to get to know him and show him humans really can be the good guys.
From his Foster Home-
In the 4.5 months fostering Mouse, his high anxiety and stress levels were very evident and his personality did not show at all in the first 3 months. He avoided interactions and was very shut down when trying to engage with him. When he settled in and found that his foster home had routine and was somewhat quiet and calm, slowly but surely he began to come out of his shell and explore more and use the house as his playground.
First at night time, his activity spiked with playing with toys and entertaining himself around the lounge area, to eventually seeing him lounge around in sunlit areas and sleeping on beds and really embracing the relaxing life. Mouse may take several steps back in a new environment, but in time I’m hopeful his quirky personality will shine through and become the perfect addition to someone’s home.
Mouse does not yet enjoy being touched, but loves to play with balls (the ones with no bells inside) and small soft toys. He sometimes claws at the couch so may enjoy access to a cat tower or scratching post.
He was friendly and tolerant when living with a foster kitten so may enjoy and benefit from the company of a friendly feline.
If you would like more information about Mouse or wish to meet him please contact our Foster Care Co-Ordinator’s -Email foster@catprotection.com.au or Phone 0400 444 734.
Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm / Sat-Sun 10am-3pm.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need.
