Meet our beautiful gem, Ruby.
Ruby is 4 years old and an absolute sweetheart, whose enthusiastic smile and great cuddles makes her a favourite.
A very intelligent dog, Ruby knows sit, wait and paw – currently learning a few other tricks while waiting for her forever home.
Oh boy o boy, she loves the beach! If you're looking for a dog who loves to go for a swim, chases sticks and brings them back, bounces over waves and sniffs all the sandy smells, look no further.
In her down time, Ruby is an avid TV watcher, vocalising her thoughts loudly on the latest Dog House episodes.
She is a high energy dog, who loves to run run run and jump, jump, jump. She is a working breed and will need daily exercise and enrichment.
Saying that, she loves to tuck her muzzle under your chin and snuggle in, leaning against your chest to relax. Ruby does love to sleep on the couch but if you let her, she loves sharing the bed even more.
Ruby is dog selective. She can take a little time to warm up and can be selective in which dog she does trust.
Ruby walks on the lead with a head-halti. She is reactive to dogs on the lead secondary to her anxiety of how they will react to her.
She is best as an only dog. We do believe she could live with another dog in her new home. A controlled meet and greet between dogs would need to occur at our Fullerton Cove Shelter to ensure a good match.
She can be easily startled and can be mistrusting of people, particularly people wearing anything that covers their face. Her new home would need to understand and commit to working with Ruby to alleviate anxieties.
She is best in a home without children. No pocket pets, poultry or cats.
Ruby’s ideal home would include:
- Active, ‘work from home’ owners
- Large outside yard or lifestyle block to run in
- Secure fencing, minimum 6ft, no mesh. Dedication to ongoing training and commitment to the quirks of an anxious, high energy dog
