About Buddy - 1 Year Old Kelpie (On Trial)
Buddy is looking for his new best buddy. He’s a small, busy, bouncy Kelpie, just 12 months old.
Buddy is currently living with his foster mate, a German Shepherd. They love having a rumble and chasing each other around the yard and then settling down in front of the TV in the evening. Buddy loves spending time with his people.
Buddy loves getting out for a walk - so many great smells. He still needs a bit more help on the lead, but he’s a fast learner and very keen to please. He has good recall; that means he’ll come back when you call. He’s pretty bouncy and does jump up sometimes. He’s learning to do this less. Buddy is house trained and sleeps in his own bed in the laundry at night time.
As well as the big shep, Buddy is sharing a home with some chooks and a large old ginger cat. The chooks aren’t interesting to him at all behind their gate. The big ginger informed Buddy quite early on who’s boss and he’s accepted this advice gracefully.
Buddy’s forever family will need to have an active lifestyle and understand that he will need exercise and mental stimulation. Buddy would get along with most dogs and would love a home with another dog. As he loves his humans so much, he would need to be welcomed inside when the family is home and be involved in his new family’s life. Buddy would benefit from someone his people being around more often than not. Since he does still get excited around new people and can jump up, a home with children over the age of 8 is preferred. Buddy’s new home will need good fencing that is 5-6 ft tall.
