Skip - 3 Month Old Cattle Dog (On Trial)

Skip is an uber-adorable 3 month old Australian Cattle Dog (Blue Heeler) male pup.

Skip loves to snuggle under your chin or curl up in the crook of your arm. He’s very cuddly and affectionate, in between bursts of energy.

He has a delightful balance of chill and play. While it’s very early days, he’s showing signs of being focused and attentive for a pup of this age, and a quick learner. He’s well on the way to being toilet trained and he’s responsive to very early, basic commands (not much training as yet) such as “sit” and “no”. He’s very cluey but will need to be guided and trained to bring out his best as he grows.

In his short life, Skip has never been left home alone for any period of time. After leaving mum and siblings he’s been entertained by resident dogs in foster care. If he is to be the only dog in the household, it will take a transition period - and his humans will need to provide lots of playtime and interaction to replace the on-tap stimulation with his four-legged friends.

Being an active, working breed, Skip will require lots of exercise and one-on-one play time with his forever human/s - as well as mental stimulation. A commitment to ongoing training will be essential to ensure his working dog traits are directed in a positive direction to avoid any unwanted behaviour during and beyond adolescence.

When fully grown, Skip will require consistent daily exercise - preferably two decent exercise sessions every single day. For a working dog breed, this is non-negotiable.

The ideal home for Skip would be a home with another friendly dog to keep him company, and/or someone home the majority of the time – he’d also make a great office/work buddy!

Please consider Skip’s suitability for your lifestyle and family before submitting an adoption application. You will also need stable accommodation and a secure yard. He is not suitable for apartment living.

NOTE: Skip has 4 siblings: Winston (M), Ranger (M), Clover (F), Gypsy (F). Their profiles will be online (or coming) while they are available for adoption. Please note on your application if you’d like to be considered for any of his siblings if you are not selected as the best-fit applicant for Skip.

Skip is in foster care in Mayfield, NSW. Skip’s adoption fee is $800 and he is microchipped, vaccinated and treated for fleas and worms. He is not yet desexed, therefore he is only available for adoption in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens because he will need to be returned to a DRN approved vet for desexing (included in adoption fee) when approximately 5-6 months old. Out of area applications will not be considered.
