DAICOS
(or Dai for us non pie supporters)
A beautiful four month old Staffy x ( We think Great Dane) that has the sweetest nature and is so loving and affectionate.. Daicos is very relaxed and isn’t phased by much, he doesn’t go anywhere in a hurry and when he’s not getting into mischief you will find him flopping himself on the floor for a nap just about anywhere.
Dai loves chewing toys of all kinds, playing with his foster sister, napping and snuggling on the couch.
INTERACTING WITH HUMANS:
It’s safe to say that Dai loves people! He is such a smoocher and has absolutely no sense of personal space. He will often attack his foster family with licks & kisses. Although he hasn’t been tested with kids, we feel he is at a great age to gain exposure to small children and given his gentle nature we don’t foresee any problems - although it’s worth noting that he does occasionally jump up when excited and so that’s something to be mindful of.
OBEDIENCE/TRAINING/EXERCISE:
Dai is just a young pup that is still learning his manners and basic commands, but is responding well to training and is learning how to sit & drop and to wait at the back door to be let in. Although keeping him engaged can be a challenge, he is a smart boy and with training and consistency (and lots of treats) we feel he will definitely pick things up.
Daicos will need daily walks and training. When out on lead he likes to stop and sniff his surroundings and is very intrigued and linked to sticky beak at everything lol
SOCIALISATION:
Dai has been living with a one year old Kelpie x and absolutely adores her. He is loving having someone to wrestle with and chase around until he is all tuckered out and needs a nap. Dai has not shown any signs of aggression and we feel he would do really well with a family that already has a dog. Dai has not been tested with cats but given his age and gentle nature we don’t see there being any issues.
FOOD:
Dai is currently having two and a bit cups of puppy dry food, both morning and night with a little water mixed in. Dai is also learning to sit and wait for his food. He scoffs it down like it’s his last ever meal and then is straight over to his foster sister's bowl to make sure she doesn’t have any leftovers he can score.
He quite likes a bit of apple & banana as well.
INDEPENDENCE:
Dai loves to go off and explore and is very inquisitive of his surroundings, he will often be found wandering the backyard looking for sticks & leaves to chew on. He will try everything in his mouth, at least once. On an evening he loves to have a little cuddle on the couch with his foster family but then will often go and find a comfy place to lay down on his own and take a nap.
BATHING/TOILETING:
Dai has a low maintenance short coat. Like all dogs, he will require regular bathing to keep him clean & his coat smelling nice and fresh.
Toilet training is a work in progress for Dai, he does not yet know how to communicate that he needs to go to the toilet and has had a few accidents inside but does prefer to go outside. This is very normal puppy behavior and we would expect for his new family to keep up with the toilet training and encourage him to go outside.
SLEEPING:
Currently Dai is sleeping in the laundry at his foster family’s house. He cried a little on his first night, but now sleeps through without a peep.
INSIDE THE HOME:
Dai like most puppy’s is a little bit cheeky, he likes to get into mischief, making himself right at home, jumping up on the couch & bed, chewing on anything that will fit in his mouth (especially those loose threads on the rug) and like all puppy’s will need training on what he can and can’t do inside the home.
IDEAL HOME:
Dai will be a great addition to any family, with or without children & other pets.
A yard big enough to play and explore - paired with regular exercise outside the home.
Puppy school and ongoing obedience training.
Daily walks and lots of play time & socialization.
A home that understands the nature of having a puppy (toilet training, teething, crying & getting into mischief).
If another dog in the residence we seek a well socialized female of great nature who will play with him and manage his puppy behaviors
