About Muffin
Introducing the gorgeous and lovely Muffin! Muffin is a 2 year and 11 month old Maltese x
Muffin came into care a little timid and a few quirks
As Muffin didn’t have a lot of socialization until he came into care (and then got it in spades) he is wary of meeting new people and new dogs for a few minutes – so anyone who meets him must give him the time to adjust and come up to them on his timeframe – please don’t let that put you off – 5 mins of time for him to gain his confidence is so worth it!
Muffin is now looking for his forever home where he can enjoy playing with another dog and being very much a part of the household and family.
Muffin has spent a large amount of time with a lot of other dogs and once he was over the initial unsure period he began to learn and watch from the other dogs how to play and be a dog – he has now worked out what this is all about and happily plays.
Muffin is great with small breeds but big breeds make him nervous.
Muffin’s play time is very similar to a lot of other little small breed dogs – ie. The floor can be classed as hot lava and loves to play on the furniture. He has a play friend at his foster home and they will play chasey all thru the house and up on furniture – when Muffin is in play mode he can easily jump up and off the couch (but in cuddle time he needs his foster mum to pick him up and put him on the couch). Muffin is only young so stairs / ramp learning could be helpful
Muffin loves to play and will be the first to encourage another dog to chase him – sometimes that can be fun play other times we swear we can hear the other dog saying I’m going to chase you simply to get you to stop annoying me’.
Muffin does have a favorite bed that he loves to use when sleeping in the same room as his foster mum – and will take himself off to bed at night when he’s sleepy. Muffin has started during the cooler nights to go to his foster mum and give her a small pat asking for a snuggle.
Muffin is toilet trained and if he can’t access outside by himself he will let his humans know but obviously we would prefer a home where he can be in and outside at his leisure and bathroom requirements.
Muffin’s ideal home would be with one other small dog who will happily wrestle and play with it but not be so in face from the beginning that Muffin is not able to continue with his confidence.
Muffin is wary of men standing over him (and will give a snap if he feels threatened), but if they sit down on the floor he is all over them for a pat or a scratch - - so his new home would need to be mindful of this when introducing men to him but also continue with his training on this behavior.
Muffin does enjoy being outdoors for a sunbake and a good sniff around but would not be a dog that could spend hours outside by himself.
Once Muffin is confident and comfortable with you he will love a good cuddle on the couch while you’re watching tv or cooking he will be an awesome couch warmer for you.
Muffin is currently living in a home with kids but can be uncomfortable around small children when first meeting them so again a small time for him to adjust and be comfortable makes all the difference.
Muffin has shown no interest in cats while in rescue.
Muffin does have a coat that requires regular grooming and is not a fan of someone he’s not comfortable or familiar with trying to wipe the hair out of his face etc. A lot of groomers are happy to work with dogs who have this issue and Muffin can be home groomed (if you have those skills) but does need a slow introduction into you grooming him.
Muffin is looking for a home where he will continue to have his confidence grow and be cherished like he should be – are you that home?
