About Pie
What a sweet face and personality this gorgeous girl has got ⊠Pie is an English Staffy x wh will just melt your heart .
The sweet and deliciously cuddly Pie is now available for adoption - and trust us, if you are looking to adopt a delightful family dog who is great with kids, cats and dogs, Pie is going to be your girl. Her gorgeous smooth jet-black coat, deep black eyes and velvet soft ears make her irresistible to pat and cuddle - and this girl just loves to be loved! She is a classic staffy - a fast and furious galloping brick on legs who wants to play all the games, but who falls in an adorable exhausted heap snuggled up to her human on the couch at the first chance she gets.
SOCIALISATION
Pie has been fostered in a home with three large, boisterous resident dogs, a young female foster dog, and also her female litter mate. She is a very well-mannered, respectful pup, who is confident enough to invite other dogs to play with her, but is also very submissive and is the first to run back to her foster mum if things are starting to get a little wild. She genuinely loves playing with other dogs and we would love to see her go to a home with a tolerant, playful and polite male dog to be her new best bud.
Pie has been in foster care with three dog-savvy cats and has been absolutely fascinated by them. Their foster family occasionally hear a squeak of surprise when the pups get a little too close for comfort and receive a swipe from the cats for their troubles. Resident cats in Pieâs new home who are confident around dogs will be able to put her in her place in no time.
Pie has also been in care with children aged 11 years and older and has truly loved being in their company. She is such a bright girl and now more often than not she will immediately sit down to enjoy lots of gentle pats and stroking to her chest and under her chin. She will continue to improve with this with further consistency in her new home.understand the need to be calm and consistent around bouncy young puppies.
EXERCISE AND ENRICHMENT
As a young puppy, Pie has not been taken outside the boundary of her foster home and has only had a few experiences walking on a lead. She is such a devoted little follower when she walks around the acreage at her foster home, we have no doubt she will be easily leash-trained. Like all dogs, Pie will require a walk outside of her home every day.
Pie is everything a puppy should be and just loves her toys - she has been quite a good âcarerâ of her toys and has not shown a desire to tear things apart. On the other hand she is a staffy⊠and her true love of destroying things may start to emerge as she grows up and gains confidence in her new home. She has been quite delightful to watch as she has often opted for a tiny stick or leaf to carry around proudly and occupy her while out in the backyard. Her new owners need to be prepared to âpuppy-proofâ their home to ensure she doesnât get herself into serious trouble doing the things that puppies do and chewing on things they shouldnât be. Pie is literally a âclean slateâ and apart from already knowing the âsitâcommand, she requires training from scratch - but she is smart and eager to learn and just LOVES treats so she will be very easy to train and will make her owners super proud of her in no time.
TOILET TRAINING
Pie is NOT reliably toilet trained yet and her new family needs to be prepared to work hard on this from the outset.
EATING AND SLEEPING
As a young puppy, Pie still needs plenty of sleep at night and a few naps during the day. Routine is also important for her as a puppy learning her place in the world. She currently sleeps in her crate overnight with her litter mate and they are both happy to go to bed in their crate without any crying or whining. They sleep from about 10pm to 7am. separation anxiety and possible crying at night as she settles into her new environment and new routine. Her new owners therefore need to be prepared to manage this typical puppy behavior, which will of course pass with time, love and patience
IDEAL HOME
Pie is truly adorable - she is so placid and smart, and would make a lovely addition to a wide range of families.
A home with a medium to large backyard with grass, shelter, and secure fencing.
A home with or without children, they must be dog savvy children who can handle puppy behavior.
A home with or without another dog.If another dog is in residence already we seek a Male of medium to large size who is well socialized and tolerant of puppy behavior.
A daily walk. Short walks while she is a puppy and her bones are developing. A moderate-long walk when is older and has more energy to burn.
A lot of love and training! Pie should be welcomed as part of the family and not just left on her own in the backyard all the time. Her new owner should dedicate time to training and take her to puppy classes.
She is young enough to learn if you have a dog savvy cat
We recommend children in the home to have prior dog / puppy exposure before your family applies for a young pups puppies do teeth and have sharp little puppy teeth
