About Lady
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Lady (15kgs so a neat medium)
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance after being surrendered to the pound.
BREED: Collie x
BREED TRAITS: Collies are working dogs - used for herding sheep - they are affectionate with family and thrive on companionship and regular exercise. Highly intelligent and easy to train they also need plenty of mental stimulation - they are not cuddly couch potatoes and need a job. They need an active owner, not a novice owner.
************************************************************************************
ASSETS: She's a little shy with men initially but once comfortable she's easy going, affectionate, devoted, friendly, obedient, active, sweet and playful! She's settled well into foster care and is having the best time!
FAVOURITE THINGS: Lady loves to play ball and fetch. She loves her walks where she gets out and about exploring and will play hide and seek with her toys at home. She travels great in the car and is very loving towards her people. She gets on beautifully with the other dog in her foster home and they play for hours!
ENDEARING FEATURES: She is very well behaved and is loving and affectionate towards the people around her. She's really smart too so training will be a breeze for her!
OTHER ANIMALS: She gets on well with other friendly dogs and loves their company. She would love to share her new home with a friendly active dog after gentle, supervised introduction. She hasn't been tested with cats since she's been in foster care, but we were told that she has lived with a cat before so she may be able to live with a dog-savvy cat after gentle introduction.
GENERAL INFO: Lady is still training on the lead and gets a bit excited and barks when she meets other dogs, so we will need her new owner to continue with training her. She is housetrained and will bark at noises or when someone is at the door. She doesn't like to be left alone and will chew and dig, so another dog for company or a home where someone can take her with them when they go out will be very important for her. Her command training is coming along well. She already knows sit, down, heel and come and she's a clever cookie so picks up new things fairly easily.
ESSENTIALS for Lady:
** An active, loving home with someone who can be there with her for most of the day on a permanent basis or can take her with them when they leave the house.
** An owner who will dedicate time to training her and take her to classes where she can socialize and learn new things in a safe environment.
** She has a high activity level so will need good daily exercise, playtime and mental stimulation. An active home that is willing to involve her in daily activities is essential for her.
** Lady needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore.
** Lady loves to be with her people so she needs to be allowed inside the home when you are there and to sleep inside at night, preferably as close to her people as possible!
** Lady would suit most homes although we would prefer children to be older (8+) who are able to read her signals. She would love another dog with a similar energy level to live and play with or at the least have regular interaction with other dogs in a safe environment.
