About Opal
Opal is a charming and playful girl who loves all people, especially men. Her foster mum describes her as "a most adorable dog and very easy to fall in love with".
With humans, she is compliant and eager to please. With other dogs, she likes to be boss. Although she currently lives successfully with an ageing Jack Russell by the name of Hugo, she prefers larger dogs. Having said that, she's respectful of and friendly with Hugo, provided he doesn't touch her bone.
Very placid and easy-going, Opal knows her basic commands, but can be a bit strong on the lead, especially at the beginning of a walk.
She's remarkably tolerant when it comes to grooming. A very clean dog, she never smells "dawgie"!
Opal is energetic and loves exercise and play, which is somewhat surprising for a dog her age. Our vet says she's in great health and her teeth are really good.
She would do well with a compatible canine pal, probably an active male dog about her size, but is accustomed to being the only dog in the household.
She is house-trained, but prefers spending her time lying in the sun or mooching around the yard.
She has no problem getting over a standard fence, so secure fencing will need to be considered if you welcome her into your home.
Opal is not compatible with pocket pets, poultry and cats. She has had no exposure to children.
If you think Opal could be the perfect addition to your family then complete the online adoption application at https://southerndownsark.com.au/apply-to-adopt/.
Please note that preference will be given to homes where someone is around most of the time. Prior Husky experience will be well regarded.
Medical notes
Opal tested negative for heartworm in July 2023.
