About Max
Hello there, my name is Max and I am looking for my lifelong friend...
I am a Maltese x and I am 10 years young.............
My foster mum says I am one of the calmest, gentlest dog she has fostered, and I have to admit I just love life, I love people and I just love life and everything that it can offer me.
I came into care in a pretty bad way – the rescue was contacted because my previous owners had me booked in for desexing but they were advised I had some dental issues and they were not wanting to pay that and there was discussions about euthanizing me.
The rescue said of course I was welcome into care and that they would do the dental and desexing for me. They also had to have the vets sedate me to help me with my groom as I was very matted and it hurt to try and groom me.
The rescue took me to this lovely vet who then spent over 6.5 hours doing my dental work – unfortunately my teeth were so bad that they had to remove every tooth from my mouth – the vet said they had never seen anything like it!
They offered us to keep the teeth for the tooth fairy but we think that would have been too traumatic for the poor fairy to see!
Fast forward 14 days after my teeth were removed and my foster mum finally letting me eat more than boiled cube chicken breast – omg I can now eat anything!!!! I smash my dry food – I smash any meat given to me and looooove food now.
My foster mum has said I have just come leaps and bounds since I was groomed (okay shaved but they had no choice), they have taken me to the groomers since for a touch up on my coat and the groomer has said I am very unsure and can be reactive to having my feet and around my face groomed – she believes that it simply due to the lack of grooming care I had before now. My foster mum regularly touches my feet and face in a loving kind gesture but I think cause I know the difference I don’t react.
I have heard my foster mum discuss me she says that I am a lovely boy who deserves the most amazing life that can be offered.
Ideally I want to be in a home where I can be part of the family and their day to day activities – I love a walk and I love to hang with family. I love to play fetch (with a soft small ball).
My foster mum has said it’s been such an honor to watch my confidence grow.
I love to go for a walk daily and my foster mum says I forgot I’m 10 years old when I’m walking.
My dream home would be with someone who either works from home or doesn't work and is a home body.
If you want to know how to win my heart it’s pretty easy – I love a good ear scratch and when I am comfy with you I will roll over and invite you to give my tummy a good scratch at well!
I am dog friendly but do not want puppies or dogs that are in my face I’m more a quiet life type of guy or really big dogs they make me really nervous. I would also be happy being an only dog and having my family play with me and cuddle with me.
I am untested on cats
I am child friendly however as I’m now getting to the mature stage in life I would prefer a home that doesn’t have kids under the age of 5 living there – simply just cause I like the peace and quiet of a home.
I am very much an inside dog – snoozing on the couch and sleeping on my human’s bed and I would very much like this to continue.
I am toilet trained and will let you know when I want to go outside but I'm also happy to use a dog door.
I have a coat that does requiring brushing and grooming and with my grooming history a family who is happy to perhaps shop around a little bit to find the perfect groomer for me when I need.
If you think you could make me part of your family & are interested in applying to adopt me, please send thru an adoption application.
** Please note applications will close Wednesday 12th April 2023 at 5.30pm

Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email.
