About Jack
****************************PLEASE APPLY AT www.gsrv.com.au ****************************
Jack is a stunning black German Shepherd; he is 5.5 years old and is looking for a fresh start after living the life no dog should.
Jack was found with another shepherd, abandoned out in the middle of nowhere, despite the best efforts of everyone at the pound and our community, Jack’s owner couldn’t be located. The person who bred Jack and the other dog conveniently couldn’t remember who they were sold too, it is clear to us that they were used for breeding, and then were likely dumped by this person.
It is clear that Jack has never known love, he is terrified of the world around him and shudders at every noise or fast movement, we can only imagine the life he has been living. When we first met Jack he was very shutdown, and whilst he was accepting of pats and affection, he was very worried that something worse was soon to follow. Jack has been living in foster care and has slowly started to come out of his shell, he is now looking for a forever home where he can continue to build his confidence and learn just how wonderful life can be.
Jack LOVES Balls, fetch is his absolute favourite pass time and it is how he makes friends with new people. Jack can be worried about new people to begin with, but during fetch he becomes more trusting and will eventually drop the ball right between your legs ready for another round. Jack is particularly scared of tall men, he will bark initially to voice how unsure he is, but again, a ball and walking together he comes around. Jack will need a committed new owner that will slowly expose him to new people, he is very scared and needs to feel safe in his home. Jack needs a quiet home where everyone is over the age of 12 years old.
Jack is toilet trained and knows how to sit, he isn’t overly food motivated but does enjoy some roast chicken, he would much rather work for a toy than he would a treat. Jack is a well-behaved boy in the home and is happy so long as he has a ball to carry around. Jack walks reasonably well on lead, he will sometimes bark at strangers but is easily moved on and is improving every day.
Jack gets on well with other dogs and has always lived with them, he would thrive having another dog in his new home that will help him come out of his shell and who will help build up his confidence. Jack would love to live with a female, large-breed friendly dog that will show him the ropes and that he can lean on for support during this transition.
Jack has not been tested with cats or other small pets.
Jack has had such a hard start to life, we can’t even imagine the horrors he has been through to make him so scared and shutdown. We can already see glimpses of a happy, healthy dog, Jack just needs someone dedicated and patient to help slowly bring him out of his shell and help him to feel safe and loved. Jack is a project dog for someone who can give him lots of time and space, he is looking for someone very special that will show him the love he has never known.

Adoption details
We offer a 'Foster to Adopt' program. This means that the dog will go to live with their adoptive family for 4 weeks to ensure it is the perfect match for both the dog and new family. After the 4 weeks is complete, if all has gone well, the adoption is formalised and your new doggy companion is officially yours!
If you are interested in adopting from us, we ask that you fill out the Adoption Application form on our website (via the link provided below) with as much detail as possible, including the name of the dog you are interested in.
We do not rehome female dogs to a home where there is an existing female dog. Whilst there are always exceptions, it is generally unwise to have two females together; two males can sort it out, a male and a female can sort it out, but when two females fight, the results can be disastrous. For this reason, following the advice from numerous Veterinary behaviourists, as well as our own experience from the last eight years, we do not rehome females into homes with other female dogs.
All of our dogs are de-sexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated
Puppies (2 months to 4 months) - $1000
Puppies (4 to 6 months) - $800
Adolescents (6 months to 1 year) - $700
