If you’re looking for a giant dog to cuddle and who is incredibly loving and affectionate, then let me introduce you to Viggo. Viggo can't wait to be part of a forever family who has experience with large breed dogs (his size can be a little overwhleming for people not used to big puppies!!) and who can continue his training to ensure he is the best dog he can be.
Viggo would probably prefer to be with a family who has someone home regularly to keep him company, although he is fine on his own as long as it isn't every day and he has lots of kongs and chew toys to keep him stimulated. Viggo loves being the centre of attention and would be happy as an only dog, however he is good with other dogs generally. He can be quite boisterous and this can be overwhelming for less confident dogs, so any doggy companion would need to be able to manage his size. His foster sister is good at letting him know when she has had enough and he is a good boy and listens to her.
Viggo is fully toilet trained and knows how to sit although he is still working on other skills. He is very keen to please and is great in the car. He is learning to tolerate a lead - he doesn't pull too much but is so strong that a halti style harness is recommended and he is still learning how to manage one of those. He does want to play with any dogs he sees while out walking, and so maintaining control with a halti style lead is essential. Ongoing training and socialisation with other dogs will be important.
Viggo has really appreciated comfy bedding in his foster home and happily sleeps all night on his bed in his foster parent's lounge room. Viggo still needs some help learning boundaries - he is not aware of his size or of people's personal space and just wants to lean against his foster family members. As a result, any children in his forever family should be dog savvy middle to upper primary or older as he doesn't know his own strength at times. Viggo's favorite place is on the couch with his people, and the family lucky enough to get this beautiful boy will be in for lots of affection.
