About Amaya
Yep I am really this fluffy in person
My name is Amaya but I could easily be call fluff ball!
I am a 10 week old Maltese x Shih Tzu – my mum came into care and was carrying a surprise for the rescue – My brother and I were the surprise!!!
The rescue has taken such good care of me, Ren and My mum – it was a bit bumpy thru some of the pregnancy and I heard mutterings about emergency C-section but we finally came out and our cute fluffy us were here!
I can be shy when meeting new people or in new situations but if you give me a few minutes to get my bearings and get comfortable – look out world – when I’m ready for an adventure I am the most fun to be around.
My brother is pretty rough and tumble from the get go – I’m more laid back and usually found cuddling up with a fur friend but don’t let my shyness fool you into thinking I’m some meek little girl – I am a strong independent girl when I want to be and can beat up my brother with one hand tied behind my back – especially if we are wrestling – I always win.
One of my favorite things is to just have a cuddle in my human’s arms.
I have been learning to sit when I have my dinner and my foster mum says I’m always the first to sit (I may be a little competitive).
I currently live with all size dogs and ages (and temperaments) my foster mum says that I am definitely dog socialised, oh yeah and kid socialized too.
I am 95% toilet trained but I am still only 10 weeks old so you know, accidents may happen.
Currenlty my foster mum works 3 days a week from home and that is awesome as I get to help her while she works - I like that arrangement.
I also want to have another brother / sister to play with and hang out with - i have always had at least one dog company and need that friend.
I love to have a play outside in the wet grass and mud so please don’t think you are getting a pretty princess who will stay all white and fluffy all the time. There is nothing better than being outside and getting dirty – the more dirt the more fun is had!
Because I may have gotten dirty once or twice my foster mum has bathed me and she says with all the practice I am always on my best behavior. I have even had my first real hair cut at the groomers – I was a little bit nervous at first with the clippers but once I realised I was safe I was so brave and was such a good girl
My foster mum has said that she predicts a lot of baths ahead for me in my future as well as some awesome adventures that may or may not make my new mum and dad laugh.
She said but seriously I will need to be groomed every 6 – 8 weeks so it’s an ongoing expense you will need to be prepared for if you chose me.

All our dogs leave our care with full vet work (up-to-date vaccinated, microchipped, desexed, heart worm and intestinal wormed and flea treated).
Please note - They will not leave for their new homes until they are 12 weeks of age and have been desexed, micro-chipped and vaccinated up to date.

Please Note: We do not hold any animals so please only apply if you are ready to adopt now
Please note - We don't take calls on adoption enquiries - an application must be completed

Once an adoption enquiry is completed our admin team will assess the application and if successful we will arrange for a meet and greet to be completed. We may also request photos of your yard for consideration of your application. Please note that we will do no more than 3 meet and greets per dog.
Approved applicants will be contacted to arrange a time for a meet & greet via email. You must bring your current dog along to the meeting if you are meeting another dog/puppy, this is to ensure they get along before commencing adoption - proof of your dogs up-to-date vaccination is required before any meet and greet is arranged.
Our adoption fee must be cleared in our bank account before any animal is available for pick up. Please note we bank with ANZ - any other bank may take 48 hours to process the monies.
Paw Prints Canine Rescue has a 10 day trial period – this basically means that if for any reason the adoption does not work out and the dog needs to be returned to us, the adoption fee minus an admin fee (minimum is $100) will be returned to the adoptees via bank transfer within 7 working days.
Please note that if an interstate adoption needs to be returned or regional adoption all transport cost with be paid by the adopter.
Please also note while this can be a very exciting time for everyone, it can also be an overwhelming time for dogs and we ask that you do try and allow your new family member to settle in their new home and adjust
INTERSTATE ADOPTIONS **
Any transport costs are to be paid by the adopting family, however we can assist you in helping with transport to airports etc.
** Please note some of our dogs are not available for interstate adoption
AFTER THE TRIAL PERIOD
After the 10 day trial period is completed Paw Prints Canine will send out all relevant paperwork for your new furbaby via email including the transfer of microchip form.
