About Nancy
AVAILABLE NOW
Old lady Nancy needs her lucky break!
This mature girl came to us in pretty rough condition back in December.
We don't know her background, as her family left her anonymously at a facility that provides support to people experiencing homelessness, domestic/family violence and the like - we know the lead-up to Christmas can be a hard time for some but losing her home was definitely rock bottom for sweet Nancy.
So we're grateful to them, as we can only assume they were facing hard times and wanted to help get the best for Nancy.
Our best guess is that she's 10-12 years old.
Nance does not like other cats one wee bit so a place where she's the only one, would be ideal.
Upon arrival, Nancy seemed generally healthy except for her appalling skin condition. She had dry, scaley, irritated skin over most of her body with her coat being sparse and rough. Conversely, in her groin and armpits her skin was moist and infected.
It just looked SO uncomfortable!
It seems that her condition was the result of a chronic and severe flea allergy. After flea and parasite treatment and a course of steroids, Nancy's coat is soft and beginning to look like a normal cat. The horrible scaliness is gone and her belly and groin are no longer inflamed and infected.
Because of the prior state of her, Nancy doesn't immediately love to be touched. Although her skin is much better now, it seems that she remembers how uncomfortable it previously was.
She does thoroughly enjoy it if you find and scratch a particularly itchy spot.
She's a bit head-shy, preferring to be stroked from the neck and back.
She's opinionated and has a loud and demanding meow.
Nancy will probably take some time to warm up to a new person but there will be an immense sense of achievement once you break through her barrier and find her sweetest self.
She's really bursting out of her shell at the moment and has started turning her shouting into a more conversational meow, not to mention the fact she loves making little biscuits on her blankets 😍
There's an absolutely adorable girl under the somewhat rough exterior
Nancy's improvement has been quite surprising in a short time and we know she's now so ready to find a home for her mature years.
Nancy could be well suited to a mature person/family, or just anyone who has no other cats and wants to offer a loving home to a golden oldie.
It seems that with routine parasite and flea prevention, Nancy will not have further problems!
Please try to find it in your heart to offer Nancy the new start she so greatly deserves, after having waited 4 months in care.
As part of our April Adopt-a-thon, Nancy is available to adopt for the donation of your choice; give any amount you can - $5, $50, or even $500!
