April

We would like to introduce you to the gorgeous ,sweet and wee baby girl April She is the smallest in the litter by about half lol but doesn't let her size make her feel like a little weakling as this little girl can hold her own lol
April is a little soft girl with a cute princess face and loves a big cuddle. Even though April was the baby of the litter, she is a very confident girl for her size who is keen to be around humans. . She actually sounds like a kitten. She has the most adorable face and eyes. Being in a home with her brother she is quite outgoing and will be involved in everything. She comes running every time we go outside. She is happy to be picked up, cuddled and held. For a puppy she has an all-round good temperament and attitude.
April is one of a litter of 12
All of her litter siblings will be going up for adoption over the next week so if you are interested in a few of this litter please be sure to apply for each of them. You will only be successful for 1 puppy from this litter if selected
Her Mummy is a 20 kilo Heeler x Bull Arab x and Daddy is a German Pointer x Staghound at 43 kilos let's call her a mixed breed lol so as April weighed in at 3.8 kilos at her vet appointment we are thinking a Med size at full growth
Food
April is currently eating four meals a day consisting of premium puppy dry food and either cooked chicken or rice. April LOVES her food and when you are preparing her meal she will cry to let you know you are too slow. Although April was the smallest in the litter she can hold her own and gets to her bowl and gulps down her food. She is going to need good quality food and meals to assist her growth.
Sleeping
April loves sleeping with her brother in a covered crate. She sleeps through the night and normally goes to bed around 10pm and will not wake until about 7 am. During the day she will snuggle up with her brother on a mat or in a dog bed at the back door. She has also been seen in bed with one of the resident jack russells and will come in on a night for a cuddle and a snooze on the couch with the family.
Toileting/Training/walking
April is continuing to learn about toilet training and has access to the garden at night and both garden and grassed area during the day. On occasions she has had an accident inside if she has been too long inside, but will mostly go outside. In her new home we would expect her to have a few accidents until she is used to her new surroundings and finds her spot. When in her run she has a dog relief pad which is used at night. In her new home it would be good to encourage her to go outside once she wakes up from sleeping or taking a nap.
April will take food gently from your hand. It will be important that she goes to puppy school to further her training.
Due to her age and not being fully vaccinated April has not had any practice being on a lead. She will need ongoing use of the lead and would benefit from learning from other dogs. We also take her out the back with a semi see through fence to get used to seeing new things like cars driving past and people/dogs out walking.
Once April is old enough and fully vaccinated it will be important that she is taken for a daily walk.
Exercise/toys
April loves exploring in the house and outside in the garden. She can be seen with her sibling in the garden playing hide and seek and also exploring her surroundings. She enjoys wrestling with her brother and will not be pushed around even though she is smaller. You will normally find her outside in the garden or the deck playing with her toys and brother. April is learning about tug of war and she is starting to chase the resident JRT X playing zoomies.
Dogs/Cats
April has not been tested with cats, but due to her age I don't see any problem with her being homed with a cat.
April is currently living with a brother and 2 Jack Russell’s who are older. April tries getting attention from the other dogs, but being older they can be grumpy. April would love to find a home with a medium size male dog. She is very considerate and doesn’t annoy them too much.
Travel
April is not fussed by the car and will normally just lay down and enjoy the ride. She has had a few trips and will settle quite quickly.
Bath
April has had a few baths and is not fussed by the water at all. She has also been dipped on hot days and is happy to be cooled down. She is given treats during the bath to learn it is ok to have a spa treatment.

IDEAL HOME
A home with a medium to large backyard with grass, shelter, and secure fencing.
A home with or without children, they must be dog savvy children who can handle puppy behavior.
A home with or without another dog.If another dog is in residence already we seek a Male of medium to large size who is well socialized and tolerant of puppy behavior.
A daily walk. Short walks while she is a puppy and her bones are developing. A moderate-long walk when is older and has more energy to burn.
A lot of love and training! Feb should be welcomed as part of the family and not just left on her own in the backyard all the time. Her new owner should dedicate time to training and take her to puppy classes.
She is young enough to learn if you have a dog savvy cat
We recommend children in the home to have prior dog / puppy exposure before your family applies for a young pups puppies do teeth and have sharp little puppy teeth
