About Snypes
Are you an English Staffy lover ? Can you picture yourself having a little land seal on your couch snuggling up with you on a cold, hot or warm day ? Snypes isn't fussy lol
Do you love to be loved ? Do you yearn for your face to be licked and a short little chubby boy with wombat arms hugging you ?
Well we would like you to meet the bestest little boy, the amazing loving boy with the sweetest and biggest heart⦠Snypes
Affectionate, quiet, gentle English Staffy seeking loving human parent(s) to create lasting, happy memories with.
Snypes is a young at heart 10.5 years old male Staffy. Donāt be fooled by his age ā this boy is playful, agile and loving. He likes running in the courtyard to play with his foster parents and canine foster sister. He can jump straight off the floor and into your lap in an armchair and he is generous with kisses. He loves nothing more than snuggling on the couch with his humans.
At 17 kgs, heās relatively small compared to most Staffies. He gently mouths his foster parents' hands during play when excited. While he doesnāt bark, he grunts in his deep bear-like voice when heās happy, especially when heās being hugged or kissed.
Heās an easy going, undemanding dog (except when it comes to cuddles) if you are up for a cuddle or if you are not⦠you are going to get one lol
Medical
When Snypes arrived from a pound his teeth were in really bad shape so he had a full dental and we removed 6 teeth. His mouth is now fully healed and perfect. Full bloods were also taken and there were no concerns about any results. While still very agile, he could benefit from supplements for his joints to keep him as supple as he is now
Traveling in Car
Snypes travels well in the car. He sits quietly buckled in while gazing at passing traffic.
Food
He is fed Prime 100 twice a day Treats he enjoys include healthy fruitā doggy
(small) portions of apple, pear, blueberries and banana. In fact, itās easy to give him tablets hidden in bananas. He just swallows it down and asks for more!
Outside
Snypes is ok left in the secure courtyard for short durations. He really isn't a fan and will treble if left for long periods outside but isn't noisy about it.
Visitors
Heās happy to welcome visitors home by jumping up and licking them. Heās not a barker so donāt expect him to wake you up if someoneās at the door. Honestly a terrible guard dog lol
Enrichment
He loves chewing on his kong ā with or without stuffings. His favorite thing is to snuggle on his spot on the couch lol
Hygiene
Snypes is a low maintenance dog when it comes to grooming. Apart from bathing and drying him, and getting his nails clipped, thereās not much else you need to do.
Independence
Snypes is happy to sleep on the couch when left at home on his own. Heāll often look out the window waiting for his humans to return. When his foster family is home, he follows them around the house, especially the kitchen! If youāre sitting on the couch, Snypes will inch up next to you and place his head on your lap.
Walks
From his reactions, it appears that Snypes hasnāt been walking much. He is curious, cautious and a little nervous outside the house. He is easy to walk but he doesnāt like the leash in front of him. He has no problems if the leash is behind him.
When he first arrived in foster care, he was reluctant to leave the house but as he has become more comfortable and confident, he has started to enjoy his walks. He will pause and look at people trying to gauge what their movements mean. Sometimes he just stops in his tracks or shakes if heās overwhelmed. Having said that, Snypes has been nothing but friendly to people he meets who give him a pat.
Obedience
He understands basic commands.
Inside
Synpes spends most of his time on the couch. Itās his safe spot. He has carried shoes and other objects to the couch but has not chewed them. As heās gained confidence, he now thinks the house belongs to him too
Dog Socialisation, Cats, Other Animals
He gets along famously with his canine foster sister, a female Staffie x. They chase each other, wrestle and nibble each otherās legs playfully.
He has not been tested with cats or other animals.
Sleeping Habits
Snypes sleeps on the couch in the living room. He also has a bed that is moved between the dining room and the courtyard which he uses when he is in those spaces.
Toilet Training
Snypes is toilet trained. He prefers the courtyard for his toileting needs rather than doing it on walks. He will tell you if he needs to relieve himself by waiting at the door, albeit silently
This request can easily be missed unless youāre observing him hence it would be a great idea to allow him to access inside and outside with a doggy door.
He has only had one accident at home that was possibly due to the excitement of having visitors earlier that night. Snypes does his last pee for the night in the courtyard before bedtime around 10 pm.
Ideal Home
Dog loving, mature single or couple who will pamper, spoil and be gentle to this beautiful boy.
Heās perfect for homebodies or people who work from home.
A calm and relatively quiet home - he gets alarmed by loud voices.
Patient owners who are gentle and who will help him gain confidence and feel safe without overwhelming him with too much, too soon
A comfy couch that youāre happy to share with Snypes is on his essential list. He is an INDOOR dog
While Snypes enjoys playing with his canine foster sister he is extremely submissive and we feel he doesnt need a dominant dog as a companion. If there is another dog in the home currently we seek a very gentle and calm smaller size female who is not bossy as he is a little sook lol
Short but regular walks for his health and wellbeing.
A home with a secure yard or courtyard with a kennel/bed in a sheltered spot for occasions when he may be outside
Ideally a home where he can access indoors and outdoors at all times
A home where someone is home more often than not as he loves being with his family
