About Dahlia
This extremely special lady is Dahlia. She is a scruffy mixed breed girl who weighs in at 24.7kg. Dahlia came to us from a rural NSW facility and her foster carer has described her as just the most beautiful and affectionate little lady and she has fitted in so quickly it is like she’s always been there! She has settled into the luxuries of foster care and enjoys nothing more than a snuggle with her people on the couch (she thinks she’s a lap dog!) or a good ‘ol belly rub.
This girl is Mrs social. She absolutely loves everyone she meets. She enjoys meeting new people out and about and always has a big smile on her face. Dahlia came into care a little reserved and her foster carers have been working hard to build up her confidence. She has come a long way, but does still become a little wary in certain situations. She will require an owner who is dog experienced and can continue her confidence building. She has met children and seems happy to say hello, but due to her slightly more timid nature, we feel an adult only home will suit her better.
Dahlia is also very dog social. She has had lots of interactions with other dogs while in care and they have all been positive experiences. These have all been in the form of walks and play with familiar dogs. Due to coming from rural NSW, Sydney dog parks are a very foreign concept to her and we would prefer her continued socialisation to be done away from dog parks which are full of unknown dogs and rather in the form of play dates with known dogs. She would love a home with another dog who is confident and friendly.
At home Dahlia is a pleasure to have around. She is toilet trained and sleeps through the night in her crate. She is not a barker and enjoys the finer things in life like couch cuddles in the evening. Dahlia doesn’t love to be left alone, but does better when she has an indoor room to hang out in, rather than crated or locked outside. She is currently in foster care with no other dog, and her carers feel she will be much happier left alone with another dog for company. Dahlia is doing well with her training and has learnt some basic commands. She can be slightly fussy with her food and is not super food motivated, but her carers find training her a breeze. She walks well on leash most of the time, but can get overexcited and pull or jump around if she wants to say hello to a particular dog or person. Her new owners will need to continue to work on this. She travels really well in the car (if she is secured, otherwise she will try to sneak up to the front seat for a better view!).
We just think Dahlia is such a special dog and deserves nothing but the best in a forever home. She has moderate energy levels and will need a decent daily outing and some mental stimulation to ensure she is satisfied. She is the type of dog who will be someone’s best friend and make every adventure a lot of fun. We are looking for a home where she will be taken out on lots of fun outings to beaches, on bush walks and many other doggy friendly places. Dahlia must be allowed inside as part of the family and as a special request allowed on the couch with her people as this is one of her favourite past times, snuggling up on the couch and snoozing the evening away. She will need to be provided a warm and comfy bed to sleep inside on of a night.
If you are looking for a loyal, affectionate and social girl and can provide her with an amazing home full of fun and adventure, then Dahlia might be your lady. Please fill in an adoption enquiry application from our Fetching Dogs website as the next step in the process. Please include plenty of detail about your relevant experience and what sort of home you can offer Dahlia.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
