About May
Meet May, a gorgeous, intelligent little girl with the cutest freckles and a spunky, vibrant personality who is looking for her forever home. May is a sweet and affectionate puppy who loves nothing more than cuddling up with her humans. She is a bit of a social butterfly and enjoys meeting new people and dogs.
May is a smart puppy and is already showing signs of being a quick learner. She is eager to please and responds well to positive reinforcement training methods. May is still in the early stages of her training, but she is already showing promise in mastering basic commands like sit and stay.
As a large breed puppy, May will require plenty of exercise and stimulation to keep her happy and healthy. She loves going for walks and exploring her surroundings, but she also enjoys a good play session in the backyard. May would do well in a home with a fenced yard where she can run and play safely.
May is a confident puppy and doesn't seem to be afraid of much. She is curious and adventurous, which can sometimes get her into trouble. It's important that her new family keeps a close eye on her and ensures that she is safe at all times.
May is one of a litter of 12.
All of her litter siblings are either adopted or up for adoption. What we know, her Mum is a 20 kilo Heeler X Bull Arab X and Dad is a German Pointer X Staghound at 43 kilos, let's call her a mixed breed, we are thinking a med - large size at full growth
FAVOURITE THINGS
May loves to play with her toys, especially the squeaky ones, and plays tug-of-war with her littermate, with whom she is currently in foster care. After burning off all her puppy energy, May loves to cuddle up to her human(s) and her foster carerâs resident female medium-sized dog.
INTERACTION WITH HUMANS
May is very social and confident, loves people, and loves to lie on or next to you on the couch. She loves her human cuddles. She is the first one to run up to you or through the door when itâs time for a cuddle or playtime. May and her sibling have been on a cafĂ© outing where the staff and customers adored her. She has enjoyed new visitors to the home, never shy and happy to take love from anyone.
OBEDIENCE/TRAINING
May will come when called and will sit on command when offered treats. She chases the ball and leaves it where she finds it, lol she helps with the gardening and digs impressive planting holes. So much first to be had.
ANIMAL SOCIAL SKILLS
May enjoys playing and sleeping with her sister, July, and loves to be near her foster homeâs resident female medium-sized dog. She enjoys rough and tumble play with her sister and also with her much bigger resident dog, playing chasey and tugging on toys and sticks together. Many times, weâll see all three of them snoozing on a bed outside; itâs so cute! Sheâs also seen the resident cat up close without any problems but hasnât been fully tested as the resident cat is a bit of a bully (arenât they all?).
FOOD
May does not guard her food and will stand back if her hungry sibling gets in her way. Sheâs also happy to graze on the food over time and not scoff it all at once. On a recent rainy day, she sat there watching the birds steal her foodâquite the sight.
INDEPENDENCE
May is living with her sister and a resident foster dog; she is yet to be left alone and therefore will need support settling when left alone.
BATHING AND HYGIENE
May enjoyed her recent bath, having the warm water run over her and lapping it up at the same time. Drying off and the cuddle were clearly the highlights for her.
SLEEPING
May will happily go into her crate by herself when she is ready to have a nap or go to sleep for the evening. Being a puppy, May will have a number of naps during the day. At the end of the day, she will put herself to bed with her sister and sleep till morning.
EXERCISE
May plays in her foster homeâs backyard with her toys. When she walked for the first time on a lead, she was very curious about the big, wide world out there and spent a lot more time looking around and taking it all in than keeping pace with her sister and resident foster dog.
IDEAL HOME
A home with a medium-to-large backyard with grass, a shelter, and secure fencing. In a home with or without children, they must be dog-savvy children who can handle puppy behaviour. A home with or without another dog. If another dog is already in residence, we seek a male of medium to large size who is well socialised and tolerant of puppy behaviour. A daily walk. Short walks while she is a puppy, and her bones are developing A moderately long walk when she is older and has more energy to burn. A lot of love and training! We envisioned a life for May full of adventures and many cuddles as a puppy. Her new owner will be required to dedicate time to training and taking her to puppy classes. She is a confident, affectionate, and playful little girl who will suit most family situations.
Overall, May is a wonderful puppy with a lot of love to give. She would make a great addition to any family that is willing to give her the time, attention, and training that she needs to thrive.
We recommend children in the home have prior dog or puppy exposure before your family applies for a young pup. Puppies do mouth you at times and have sharp little puppy teeth.
