About Rex
Hello! My name is Rex and I’m a 10-year-old pocket am-staff looking for love in my later years.
I went through a tough time when I first came in to care and I went in to a home that wasn’t safe for me which made me abit fearful.
I then went in to emergency foster care where I was looked after by two separate families but I needed a more stable environment to really come out of my shell.
My new foster parents Robyn and Aaron took me in back in November 23 and have said I am the best friend anyone could ask for. I settled in fast and soon became a loving member of their family.
My foster mum works from home which I love as it means we can spend quality time together and I’ve grown to learn what a loving home feels like.
In the house, I’m great. I am the perfect gentlemen and toilet trained. I love sleeping in my crate or on my sofa bed as well as laying in the sun in my big backyard.
You have treats? I will love you forever! I’m working on my separation anxiety and it’s going really well. I can now be left on my own in my crate for a few hours at a time while my people go and run their errands. If you keep up my training this will only get better.
My people tell me I’m pretty smart too. I know how to sit, stay, shake, wait, come and down. I also know when it’s bed time and wait for my foster mum to tuck me in with one of my many blankets.
Outside of the house, I LOVE going on adventures and I walk great on a lead. I love to have a good sniff of things and go new places. My family have taken me on a few camping trips as well which I loved! I could swim all day and relax with my people in the evenings.
I love a car ride and will sit perfectly in the back, sometimes observing out the window or sometimes I’ll have a nap (I’m not the one driving after all). I have great recall and like to check in with you on our walks. And don’t even get me started on playing with the ball – my absolute favorite game ever, only second to swimming.
I'm best suited as the only pet in the home, although i can happily walk side by side with other calm dogs. I don’t like excited dogs getting in my face (really who does!) so slow controlled introductions are a must for me. Also due to my past experiences I can be a little fearful of new people but with a calm intro and a few treats and I’ll be your best friend. I’ve made so many new friends in my foster home and I love when people come to visit me! I will wiggle my butt in happiness every time I see you and show you my playful side.
So you see, I am learning that one bad experience doesn’t mean everything is bad. And I’m learning it pretty fast too. If you’re willing to love me, then I’m willing to work on my fears. After everything I’ve been through, I really hope someone takes that chance on me. My foster parents tell me I give the Best hugs and kisses and that I’m the best boy!
Rex needs a more a loving, stable home whilst his confidence continues to grow and separation anxiety is managed. If you can give this old guy the love he needs please apply now!
