Woodstock is a beautiful goofy big boy who loves being with his people. Woodstock just wants companionship, he will suit a home with a family and dog savvy children that can deal with a big gentle boy that doesn’t quite know his size when he tries to give you big hugs.
Woodstock loves a good game of tug-o-war or destroy that stuffed toy with his foster sister (kelpie x) and they play together beautifully. They also seem to bring out the mischievous side in each other….they have worked together tirelessly to rid our home of evil dog beds…..
Woodstock is quite certain that all stuffed animals and shoes are out to take over the world, luckily, he is the worlds worst stealth ninja and we can easily catch him before too much damage is done. Needless to say, Woodstock needs ongoing direction in what “is” and “isn’t” a chew toy.
Food is life for Woodstock, he is quick to sit for a treat or his dinner so I am quite sure ongoing training would be quite successful with food rewards. He would benefit from a slow feeder.
Woodstock has been living with a two year old kelpie x, 1 child (9) 1 x teen (14), 2 adults, 2 cats and a rabbit. Woodstock has taken very little notice of the rabbit, he has met the cats but has no idea what to make of them and retreats. The first time he saw the bunny move he jumped backwards, so slow interactions for this loveable goofball.
A home with space to run and play and a resident mentor dog would be great for Woodstock. He has connected strongly with our resident dog and they get along great. He does need slow introductions to new dogs or he gets quite overwhelmed, but once he is connected in a calm controlled environment he is a beautiful doggo friend.
Despite Woodstock’s size, he is very gentle in his movements. He will pop his paws up on your chest but in a hug not a jump. He has the calmest of ways to take treats from your hand, he really is a gentle giant. Woodstock can sleep overnight uninterrupted quite easily and has a perfect score for toileting.
We have been walking this big fella on a halti which he has responded to wonderfully. He needs ongoing direction and training with walking to ensure he keeps being a great boy on his walks as he may get a little bigger than he already is, but walking him is a joy.
Woodstock would happily spend the day just sitting next to his family knowing they are there, having said that we leave Woodstock for periods of time each day and he copes just fine with his kelpie partner in crime and play. His favourite time is the end of the day when he gets to curl up in the loungeroom and be with everyone. We love it too…
