About Effie
Effie is a sweet girl and a snuggle bug at heart.
Once Effie falls in love she falls hard! Be prepared for her to be your shadow, waiting for you to sit on the couch so she can snuggle up for a nap. She will become your number one fan wagging her tail at all your jokes, any songs you sing (no matter how out of tune), and will do a happy dance when you walk in the door.
Don’t let the fact she spends 80% of her time curled up snoozing fool you, this girl can do some serious zoomies, especially when she gets a new toy! Her foster carer's hot tip is to let her in the yard so she can run it out.
Effie is food motivated and knows basic commands. Ongoing training would be a great way to build your relationship with her and provide her with enrichment in a safe environment.
She is toilet trained and sleeps in her crate at night, but of course, she needs a bedtime treat to coax her in!
Unfortunately, she hasn’t had the best start to life which as a result has made her nervous around new people (particularly men) and unfamiliar environments. Her ideal forever home will be understanding of her anxiety and be willing to take it slow while she learns to trust you and build a bond. She needs her world to be small and predictable. She doesn’t need trips to the dog park or walks in busy places, she needs a comfy spot and time lounging with her people, food based games are her favourite entertainment.
Effie has a lot of love to give once she feels safe to express it. If you have the patience to help her come out of her shell, you will find yourself a loyal and lifelong companion.
If I sound perfect for you, please complete the short adoption application form in the attached link, please note this is the only way your application will be considered: https://homelesshounds.com.au/adopt/dogs
