About Shadow
Hi I'm Shadow, although my breed is technically not known, I am told I look like a small Great Dane. I was named Shadow due to my inclination to follow people around like a Shadow, I will never be too far away! I am all black with white on my chest and paws. You'll also notice in my photos that I have heterochromia (with one blue eye and one brown eye) which certainly sets me apart!
I'm known to be a massive sook, and I'm always leaning on people, it's known as my ""Love lean"". I'm a mostly calm dog, though can get excitable from time to time. I don't like strong wind, and will bark at it, I don't like storms either but don't bark at them. I have been indoors a lot, and only bark when I hear strange things outside of people come too close to the house, when I'm outside I'm more aware of my surroundings and might bark at the neighbours or dogs passing by.
I have been around children aged 12 and 15, but may be too big and clumsy for small kids as I'd hate to accidentally run into them.
I have my couch potato moments, and may not be up for a 3 hour hike, but am still an active dog and enjoy a daily walk. I love to get out and about and sniff all the new sniffs and throw a few zoomies in for good measure. I'm really good in the car (even on super long trips), and not terrible on a lead but can pull if excited, so I'm used to wearing a Halti. I get distracted easily by all the sights, sounds and smells so am not the best when off a lead and would likely take off running to play with something. I get pretty excited when I see other dogs and just want to go and say hello to them. Apart from this lack of calmness on first impressions, I am very gentle with other dogs including smaller ones and will lay down and wait for them to approach me. I just want to play with everything - cats, birds, lizards, kangaroos. I don't know why they all insist on running away from me and don't want to be my friend.
My toxic trait may be that I like to chew - chew toys, soft toys, dental treats and tasty looking sticks I find in the yard. Sometimes the humans leave shoes on the ground and I find these extra tasty. I have been eating once a day and have access to biscuits through the day, and nibble on them at will, I can get a sensitive stomach sometimes and going back to a bland diet helps at these times. I know basic obedience such as sit, stay, down, shake, no, come on, and settle. I am a self-confessed cuddle bug and love to snuggle up with my humans, if I wasn't too big to get on the bed with you, I would! I am very happy when my humans come home of an afternoon and I do a very cute howl/growl that makes people melt.-
