Zeus is a loving boy who likes nothing better than sitting with you getting a nice tummy rub or any kind of affection which is greatly appreciated. 

He is toilet trained and will let you know when it’s time and he needs to go outside. Zeus loves a walk and he walks well on the lead and travels well in the car. 

He is not your usual dachshund when it comes to barking - he is very quiet and generally calm when he sees other dogs and on the odd occasion people acting strangely. He responds very well to commands and is generally very obedient. 

Zeus came to us with a history of fear aggression after being attacked by a large dog. Thankfully the wonderful foster carer that has been working with him is also a qualified dog trainer and has noticed that his behaviour has changed dramatically in the short time that he’s been working with him. The new owners will be offered further training sessions to assist Zeus if necessary.

Zeus gets very excited around children and wants to round them up and chase them especially if they run or are on bikes. This can be a bit intimidating for some children. 

Zeus is very high in prey drive and will chase any wildlife. He has been put in his place by the cat and it now seems they will tolerate each other. 

Zeus doesn’t like to be picked up. 

He is happy to let you help lift him from the hindquarters up into the car or onto furniture but when he is ready, a ramp would be a great help for him and ease his anxieties about being picked up. We’re sure in time he will trust and be happy to be picked up. 

He does like to play with other dogs but likes to be the top dog and generally doesn’t like another dog trying to dominate him. 

He is best suited as an only dog and children over 12 who can give him the love and time he deserves.
