About Dougie
We are delighted to introduce you to Dougie. When Dougie came into rescue we were told he was a "Border Collie X Blonde Koolie". But we think it is pretty clear by his colour and markings that there is a little bit of red heeler, perhaps a little bit of Border Collie and/or Kelpie and maybe even some kangaroo given the size and shape of his ears!!!
We originally thought that Dougie would need an active family with lots of room to run. Since he has been with his foster family, it has become very clear that he doesn't need any of that. He is sweet, gentle, quiet and completely loyal and focussed on his human. Yes he is more than happy to play with dogs and children, but he will always come back to his human
Dougie's preference is to be with his person all day, every day. Sitting at your feet, waiting for you to come home from the shops, sleeping quietly by your side as you do some gardening or reading or cooking. He is a big softy who likes to sleep on the floor beside your bed and just be your friend and companion.
He has passed his basic training and has good recall, knows basic commands, walks well on a lead, not reactive when walking, doesn't jump fences and doesn't bark unless to let you know someone is around. He is toilet trained, polite and well mannered.
After much discussion and assessment, we believe Dougie's best home may be with a couple or person who are retired or home all the time who just want a lovely loyal boy beside them all day. He is happiest when you are in his sights and just wants to be with you all the time.
If you are looking for a beautiful companion who is relaxed and calm, then please consider adopting Dougie. You won't regret it!!
