About Louie
Your next best friend. If you're looking for a dog that will be as devoted to you as you are to them, Louie is your boy.
Louie started from the pound, unwanted and unloved, which means he knows the value of the people around him. He is incredibly loving and wants nothing more than to be your best friend, sit by your feet, or be stupid with a visiting dog. He loves his zoomies around the yard or park and when teamed up with another dog, they usually involve crash tackles. Also playing tug-of-war is a favourite.
Louie's house training is going fantastically. So long as he has access outside, he seems to be going to the toilet there. He can also sit consistently, lay down usually, and sits on his bed waiting to be told he can go to his bowl. He is being taught how to fetch but still early days with that.
He is good on the lead, ready to walk leash free and recall is pretty good!(unless something is particularly interesting). He will make an amazing jogging or walking partner. Needs a home that can provide the stimulation and training an active breed needs to be happy and healthy. Louie will need walking at least daily, and, given his young age, needs his training to continue daily. But he is a happy-to-please dog, always looking at what he can do for you, so whatever effort you put in, you will get back tenfold with this one.
He would love a lick mat, puzzle toys for treats, and he does like having a soft toy and a soft bed - the softer the better! Louie is pretty gentle and only 20kgs.
Best not little children as he still does jump when excited as puppies usually do. But with continued training and ageing, I think this will eventually go. Louie would be best in a one dog household, either with a single, couple, or family. He has been playing with my dog non stop since he came a week ago, but it does get rather full on, and unless you want two dogs pushing each other out of the way to get to your lap, best just agree he is the prince, and no other dog matters. I know he will think that way about you.
Good things you should know about Louie include: doesn't bark unnecessarily; will settle quickly; will lay in a crate for small periods of time if required; will be your shadow and will hang on your every word; is learning manners but despite having a lot of torment from my pup, has shown himself to be pretty patient; is not mouthy at all; does not try to escape; is not reactive to storms; and, is desexed.
With a little training this boy will be a fantastic addition to a busy family or single who have time to play with him, train him and include him 100% in their family life.
