About Timothy - 9 Year Old Maltese X (On Trial)
Timothy is a 9 year old male cream Maltese Cross and weighs in at just under 6kg. He is a lovely calm, gentle, beautiful natured boy, who relishes in following you around all day and being involved in all activities. He thrives on affection and positive, gentle conversation.
He happily shares our home with a gentle younger larger female dog and the regular visits from our sons Border Collie. He loves his daily walks with the other two dogs and will often pop next door to check on our neighbours poodle as our back yards have easy access. He enjoys a morning wrestle with his female dog companion, and I think he would benefit from sharing his new home with another dog.
Timothy is good on the lead and happy to meet other dogs that approach, but more cautious when meeting new people at first. He needs time to observe strangers, and when comfortable he will approach them.
He is an indoor dog and is almost housetrained, with only the occasional mishap, as long as he has access to outdoors. My dog-door flap is more suited to the larger breeds, which makes it difficult for him to manage, so we make sure there is always an open door for him. I am sure he would master one if it was more suited to his size.
Timothy has excellent recall and will always come when called. We are a work in progress learning to sit on command, but he will definitely sit for his food. He travels well in the car on the backseat hammock with the other dogs. We live on the lake and he has very happily experienced going out in our boat, although swimming is not his thing.
He sleeps inside at night and does not need to go outside during the night. He is fine left alone at home with our dog for short periods of time but not all day.
Timothy is easy to groom as he has a light coat which is easy to wash, brush and dry, but will need regular clipping.
He is an absolute pleasure to have in our home. He is easy going and happy to keep you company all day. He does enjoy sitting next to us on the lounge at night.
He has not been tested with cats and would probably find young children too stressful, but could definitely tolerate visits from younger children occasionally.
Timothy is in Foster Care at Valentine NSW (Lake Macquarie, south of Newcastle). Timothy’s adoption fee is $400. He is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and treated for fleas and worms.
