Dr. Dre has a PHD in being a good boy. Dre is turning 1 year old on 2 April and we would love to see him celebrate his first birthday with his forever family ! 🎈 🎉

Dre is looking for an active family who will have time each day to ensure he’s had enough activity and play for the day. He’s currently been having about a 40 min walk twice a day. Dre is okay on the lead but more training about staying by your side and ignoring dogs on walks is needed for him. He can pull hard on the lead to go make friends with other dogs and people that walk by.

Dre is very clever and knows all the basic commands, sit, down, shake, stay, no and out and is keen to learn more.

He is well behaved inside bar the odd few stolen socks and running off with a shoe or two and getting his paws on a door stop. Apart from that he hasn’t chewed any furniture and is fairly calm and quiet inside. He rarely ever barks even when we have visitors.

He travels very well in the car and will jump in and out on his own. He’s not a huge fan of baths but will put up with them. He does have some long fur on his back and tail so a regular brush/groom will be necessary.

Dre loves to be by your side and follow you around everywhere. Dre has been learning to sit on his bed rather than on the couch or his carer's bed. He responds very well to "no" or ignoring and he is a quick learner.

He loves balls and rope he will happily play with his humans or if they are busy he will often play with them on his own. He loves chasing butterflies and insects which is very cute !!

Dre has been fine being left in the backyard during the day while his foster parents are at work.

When his humans are home Dre is an inside dog and sleeps inside. Because Dre loves to be around humans we don’t think he would be suited as an outside only dog.

He isn’t scared of loud noises, anytime he hears something loud he will come and investigate what’s going on.

Dre has a keen nose that can get him into some mischief. It will be important for his new family to make sure things are out of reach to him and be consistent with not letting him in the kitchen. If he can smell something on the bench he will put his paws up on the bench to try to get to whatever he can smell 🤭

Kids, dogs & cats:

Dre has not had much interactions with kids during his time in care. Dre does seem like a gentle dog, we think with close supervision (especially the first few weeks while he settles in) he may be okay with kids preferably ones who have experience with larger dogs.

Dre LOVES other dogs he gets very excited on his walks when he sees another dog walk by. He has had a chance to interact with other dogs and seems interested and friendly with them. He hasn’t shown any signs of aggression to other dogs and we think he would do really well with a slow introduction with a friendly dog.

Dre has not been tested with a cat. He has seen a few cats on his walks he does show interest towards them but doesn’t appear aggressive.A "dog savvy" cat may be ok.
