About Lionel
Hi Everyone,
my name is LIONEL (I'm also known as Lightning Lionel, Liney Lines, Love Bug and a myriad of other ridiculous names that my foster family likes to call me).
-I am a 5 year old English Bulldog and a lover of all the fine things in life (watching Netflix, hogging the couch, sleeping on the humans bed, using my foster sibling doggies as head pillows and most importantly FOOD)!!
MY FOSTER FAMILY
I am currently in foster care with 4 other dogs and 4 cats. -I get along great with all of the dogs and I am very interested in the cats (even if they are too fast for me to catch them) but I should be fine with VERY doggy savvy cats that will remind me of my manners every now and then.
HOW I ENDED UP HERE
I was surrendered by my previous owners as they left me alone for 12 or more hours a day and I tended to escape in search of friends and attention. I was also very overweight and extremely unhealthy and struggling to breathe.
That's all in the past as I attended doggy boot camp while in foster care (and have already lost an amazing 3kgs - I am now less than 2kgs from my goal weight of 26kg) and TAILS ensured I had my lifesaving BOAS surgery so you won't need earplugs anymore when I am snoring away next to you on your silk pillow. You can spend the money saved on earplugs on healthy treats for me instead. Win-Win I say!
WHY I AM SO IRRESISTIBLE
Everyone I meet falls in love with my -non-stop wiggly tail and my huge smile, I am just so joyful and happy all the time so people can't help but also smile when they see me!
Apart from a tendency to dig huge holes in the garden and lie in them to stay nice and cool, and a small amount of general bulldog stubborness, I am just an easygoing, happy go lucky guy. I am looking for a family that will love me like I will love you - unconditionally and will make me the centre of your universe. I really don't need much but I have created a list below just in case you were wondering!
Things you need to know about me:
-I am looking for a home that is experienced with my breed.
-I am desexed, vaccinated and microchipped and up to date with all worming and flea treatments .
-I am breathing amazingly now that I have received the life saving BOAS
(Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome) Surgery
TOILET & CRATE
-I am toilet trained and crate trained and will sleep through the night in my crate without a peep (but I don't really understand why I don't sleep on the humans bed every night)??
ADVENTURES
-I walk beautifully on my leash and only need short walks - 20 mins or less once or twice a day to help keep me in tip top shape at my ideal weight!
-I LOVE car rides and adventures, I am a social boy and would love to join you at the cafe or the farmers market. I promise it's really not about the snacks, it's more about sharing my big smile with everyone and getting all the pats.
MANNERS
I (sometimes) wait patiently for my breakfast and dinner
I rarely bark unless it is to tell you that my food appears to be running a bit late or if the doggy door is closed and I need a toilet break
DOG FRIENDLY
-I get along great with dogs of all sizes and ages and love being part of a pack but I would probably be OK as an only dog as long as my humans are around so I would love a family that is home more often than not or works from home, with inside and outside access to a fully fenced, secure backyard. No more escaping for me - those days are long gone now that I have discovered the good life!
STAYING COOL
I don't do well in the heat so -I do need a home with AC to stay nice and cool in the warmer months
DIET/FOOD
No matter what I tell you, I need to remain a healthy weight (my foster Mum made me write this part) I currently have a balanced diet of human-grade raw or cooked meats, Prime 100 rolls, low-fat kibble, lactose free yoghurt, Antinol Rapid and various other healthy supplements including pre and probiotics and lots of healthy snacks like raw carrots, blueberries and raspberries.
I also get some doggy ice cream from time to time because I truly am such a good boy.
TOYS: I am pretty sure I like toys, especially crinkly, squeaky toys that I can squash and mouth and generally destroy before my next nap.
PS:
I will bring everything I have to my forever home including my daily treats and food enough for the 1st month so you don't have to buy anything I even come with my own wardrobe.
Hit me up if you are a bulldog lover and you can't wait to welcome me into your bulldog family
