About Sailor
If you’re looking for new best friend and loyal sidekick, then look no further!
Sailor is a very social and happy dog who loves to make friends with everyone that he meets. He will dote on any person who will give him some attention. Out and about he is comfortable and relaxed at places like parks and markets where lots of people are around and he is happy to people watch as they go by. Sailor is even friendly and gentle with children. He has a very soft nature and will hold up his paw to show you how much he loves you and rests his nose against you while giving you those puppy dog eyes. Sailor is a floppy and wriggly pup who is bound to wriggle his way straight into your heart.
Sailor came into rescue from a rural facility with his mother who was a purebred German Shepard. He is currently around 25kg in size and a smaller large breed (not as large as a purebred GSD). Having lived exclusively with his mother for the first 7 months of his life, Sailor is still learning about the world around him and will benefit from further exposure and confidence building. While he is on the way to being an independent dog, Sailor can find initial meets with other dogs over stimulating so he is not suited to dog park environments. Instead, he would enjoy playdates with friends and family dogs in controlled settings and is able to go on pack/group walks with other dogs.
Sailor is such a fun dog to train and is easy to train as he is food motivated and willing to please. He just wants to make you proud! While in foster care he has learnt to walk nicely on a lead, sit, drop (lay down) and do stays with distractions around. At home he is crate and place trained, toilet trained and travels well in the car. Sailor loves to play with his squeaky and soft toys. You will often find him in his crate playing with a toy. Sailor will keep up with what physical activity you are into; however, he is pretty chilled, and is low to medium in energy levels. A half hour walk daily is definitely sufficient for him.
We are looking for dog experienced home for Sailor where he will be a part of the family and included in the daily activities. He will need a home with another friendly and stable medium to large doggie companion. Sailor is currently living with a pack of large dogs. He has good dog body language in with the pack and understands the hierarchy and dynamics of living with the other dogs. Sailor enjoys the companionship of children and loves it when the resident toddler walks him around. He will be suitable to live with children who are confident and savvy with medium to large sized dogs. Sailor would be better suited away from an inner-city lifestyle but will thrive and grow with guidance and continued exposure. He is a truly delightful character who is the perfect companion. Sailor’s aurora and personality is amazing, and this makes you want to spend as much time with him as possible. In turn, this makes him a very happy and content pooch.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
