About Polly
Polly is a big, lovable goof-ball looking for a new family to welcome her into their lives. She is in need of someone who has experience with larger breeds & who will invest time into her training & guidance.
She has a lovely nature & has been very sociable & playful with other dogs that she has met at the shelter. If you already have a dog in your life then we suggest that you arrange a meet & greet for them with us prior to adoption.
Polly does needs some time put into some consistent basic training as she can be a bit jumpy at times but, considering her lack of training prior to coming to the shelter, she is going really well with learning to walk nicely on her harness. Plus she LOVES food treats, which helps speed up the learning process.
Polly also LOVES toys - ropes, balls, squeakies, soft toys - any will do! She needs space to run & stretch her long legs - doing The Zoomies is one of her favourite pastimes!
Her new guardian needs to understand that, at times, Polly can be a little bit wary, particularly of people that she does not yet know. Calm reassurance & giving a dog choice is what is needed when a dog is fearful of something in it's environment. Creating positive experiences for our dogs & giving them choice will help boost their confidence. It is important to remember to not invade a dog's space but invite them into yours. Building trust is crucial.
Polly is a big dog requiring secure fencing & a high quality diet. Her bones & joints are still developing & so good nutrition is key for optimum health.
We are looking for a home with older kids (12+yrs) due to her adolescent jumpy nature & we suggest that everyone in the household comes along to meet her prior to adoption.
Polly is working really hard to understand how the human world works. Could you be the right person to help her on her journey to learn, build confidence & thrive?
Polly's adoption price includes:
- A FREE 4kg bag of ROYAL CANIN dry food
- She is desexed, microchipped and vaccinated.
Adoption Price: $450.00
