About Vegemite
Meet Vegemite, the affectionate and sassy desert dog. Once upon a time, this four-legged lady began life in a remote desert in the Northern Territory. Lost and scared, Vegemite was determined to find humankind. Long story short, she fulfilled her dream and was rewarded with a deep human friendship, delicious homemade meals and long cuddles - she hasn’t looked back ever since. It’s quite the fairy tale!
Let’s talk more Vegemite. Most importantly, she adores people and is happiest when she can lounge on a bed or couch with you. To be honest, she’s a fiend for any form of cuddles, so prepare to either be body slammed on the couch or her stealth levels are on point because you won't notice her inch her way next to you (she must be touching you). Cuddle-approved!✓
So, why call her sassy? Well… below are a few examples.
• She doesn't like potatoes in any form
• If she’s swimming, she will splash you back if you splash water at her
• People are no obstacles - she will walk through your legs to reach her destination
• If a door is partially closed, she will sit and woof at the door if she wants to come through, even if she could fit her head through the gap, she won't push a door open
• You can expect random sighs
Vegemite will entertain herself if you're out or sit by your legs if working from home. She loves playtime with her toys or going out for a morning walk after she wakes up. She has some puzzle boxes which takes all of two seconds for her to complete. At any given day, Vegemite is mad keen to frolic in the wild and go for a swim. Sensitive and careful, she gets scared at loud noises like thunder and will run to you to seek comfort and cuddles. Though she isn't fond of potatoes, Vegemite enjoys homemade meals (or a bit of yours!) and will happily take part in any activity that involves her human friends.
Vegemite's sense of loyalty is undeniable - she'll protect you from other dogs if needed and takes great joy in following you around. This said, she's also quite playful and is famous for letting loose with her rough-and-tumble style. Vegemite’s recall is also impressive at around 90% success rate - though it can be challenging walking her on the lead through suburban environments as she gets easily overstimulated by busy areas. This clever girl is excellent with routine and learns boundaries very well.
Full of aspirations, Vegemite is ready to turn the page to start a new chapter. She dreams of a home with the following requirements:
• Due to where she grew up and being used to wide open wild spaces, it must be a rural or semi-rural environment - she tried city life and it’s not for her, hence her owner is looking for a better suited home!
• Someone who wants a dog as a friend, and understands that Vegemite is sensitive, yet smart and somewhat independent. She needs an owner who can meet her at that level and live the doggy life with her.
• Someone who is happy to take some time building a relationship with Vegemite before expecting too much of the relationship too soon. You’ll be rewarded with lifelong loyalty!
She has the qualities to become your new best friend - if you’re looking for a companion who loves to watch some TV, sit outside to look at the stars, or join your outdoor adventures, Vegemite is the one for you!
Adoption details
When enquiring about a pet listed with Home2Home, your enquiry goes directly to the pet’s owner - the person who knows them best!
It’s a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the pet, including its likes and dislikes, needs, and how it may fit into your lifestyle and family.
From here, the owner will be in touch with you to chat a bit more about their pet, and if they feel your home is the best fit, they will arrange a ‘meet and greet’ for you all to get to know each other.
Should this prove successful, arrangements will be made for the pet to move straight from its current home into yours upon payment of the adoption fee.
The adoption fee is paid directly to PetRescue (via a secure payment link), and assists us to continue to run and develop programs to assist pet owners, just like Home2Home.
Change of Ownership paperwork will be completed, vetwork history will be provided and your new family member will be snuggled on your couch in no time!
